Who’s honoring Stephen Colbert now? Creativity magazine!
By
While we know and admire Stephen Colbert’s creativity each and every day, it’s always wonderful when the mainstream media takes time to honor what we already know is one of Stephen’s strongest assets.
Every year, Creative Magazine, an ad industry publication, picks it’s Creative 50, and this year Stephen Colbert made the list. Here’s what Creative Magazine has to say about Stephen:
The 2009 Creativity 50: Stephen Colbert
Host, ‘The Colbert Report’If Stephen Colbert (the character) was a plot conceived by Stephen Colbert (the actor) to overthrow the Republican Party via satire and mockery, 2008 was the year the plot succeeded.
…
What the post-Bush era holds for Colbert (character and actor) remains to be seen, since it seems like the former (at least) was particularly well-suited to mocking the ex-president. As Colbert explained his character to an interviewer in 2003, “I’m essentially a very high status character, but my weakness is that I’m stupid,” further explaining that his persona is “a fool who has spent a lot of his life playing not the fool.”
Sound like anyone we know?

Yay!! You’re absolutely right too, we can talk till we’re blue in the face about how much we love him – and that’s great too – but it’s particularly pleasing when the mainstream recognizes Stephen’s brilliance. :D

Is there a list anywhere of people who have honored him? A current list of things that are named after him? I bet there are millions animals and things named after Colbert. The whole Colbert crew are creative.

I’d like to direct you to Colbert University’s course, IMPROV 401: Audience Participation and the Colbert Nation (Parts 1 and 2), where you’ll find a slew of things named after Stephen including a bridge in Hungary, a hockey mascot, and a spider, among many other things. : ) Enjoy!
