Glenn Beck responds to Stephen Colbert’s Doom Bunker segment
ByHere’s a wonderful video featuring Glenn Beck’s reaction to the Wednesday, March 4th ‘Colbert Report’, featuring the ‘War Room’ send-up, ‘Doom Bunker’. The best of Beck’s retorts came in response to Stephen Colbert talking about Beck’s double chin – “The camera adds 10 pounds. The M&M’s add another eight, but the camera adds 10.” Beck can’t even keep a straight face as he tries to set up the ‘Colbert Report’ clip of the ‘Doom Bunker’ for his audience. The monkey bumping in the ‘Doom Bunker’ graphic was blurred, which made me laugh yet again at the brilliance of the ‘Colbert Report’ graphics gurus. It’s good to see that at least one pundit can still laugh at himself when the occasion arises.
The embedded video is a bit on the small size, but if you click on the expand screen button (box with four arrows) you can see it in its full-screen high-def glory.

it’s kind of epic when Fox News is showing footage of Colbert showing footage of Fox News, cuz you get their little spinning Fox News graphic TWICE!

Ditto. The same thing happened when O’Reilly was responding to Jon Stewart’s skewering of O’Reilly’s double standard with Bristol Palin & Jamie Lynn Spears. It blows the mind to see a show within a show within a show.

Unfortunately, that was really how it ended because it got cut off by the start of Special Report, but on TV it did show a few more seconds where he was lifting up a jar of soybeans. I’ll be watching to see if he mentions it again on Friday’s program, or the segment makes the cut for the weekend edition of the Glenn Beck program.

Thanks! Now I’m waiting for Stephen to do a report on Glenn Beck’s report on Stephen’s report on Glenn Beck. Wow, I’m getting a headache just trying to wrap my head around that.
(I’d still watch it, though…)

Tip of the Hat to Glenn Beck for taking The Report’s mock version of his show in stride…and being able to laugh at himself. Seems to me some of those super-serious folks over at Fox very rarely have that ability, but I’m glad to see all humor has not been lost on everyone.

Glen Beck with a sense of humor. Who knew? So, at least he has that going for him… Very funny.

I was thinking the same thing! Although to be fair, I’ve never watched Beck’s show. Funny video though!

it was strangely gratifying to see Beck showing a sense of humor here. to paraphrase Stephen “please don’t let me have warm feelings for [Glen Beck]!” (original was Antonin Scalia, whose company he enjoyed at WHCD)
btw, msn.com (which hotmail automatically directs to on signout) has a video posted today from the History Channel, of a “what if” scenario where a liquid natural gas tanker in Boston Harbor could explode and incinerate all the downtown area of Boston. lol! Complete with dramatic voiceover, jerky editing, and random “expert” (w/ requisite New England accent) analysis. The topper is that they posit the trigger for the initial explosion could be a private jet crashing into the tanker (!), even though the airspace has been cleared of commercial air traffic.
I thought the spoofs on these kind of overdramatic media montages on TDS and TCR were intentionally over the top, but they are actually right on the money! oh my.

the funniest/saddest part is the last scenario when obama succeeds. alot of conservatives say they don’t want him to succeed, so it would be a ‘bad’ scenario for them, even if its good for the country…
but thats political competition for ya..

I was surprised at how much of the segment they used! Usually they only use a quick slice, Glenn used like half the segment…Although I wished he had played the last two scenarios. Still, kudos to Glenn for spreading the Colbert Nation to his viewers!
