The DaColbert Code calls the Oscar winners yet again – Five out of five!
ByFor the second time, Stephen Colbert had called a 5 for 5 of the top Oscar winners with his very special system, The DaColbert Code. He called the Oscar winners last Thursday (2/12) by looking for the patterns, and called it thusly:
- Penelope Cruz – Best Supporting Actress
- Kate Winslet – Best Actress
- Heath Ledger – Best Supporting Actor
- Sean Penn – Best Actor [although he said he "wouldn't have it", and ended up calling it for Micky Rourke by writing Rourke's name on a piece of paper]
- Slumdog Millionaire – Best Movie
Click through to see the videos of the first time Stephen used his awesome power, as well as his most current example of The DaColbert Code.

Thanks for providing this important news, I was curious and couldn’t recall his picks, but I knew I could come here for it! … He’s amazing, how does he do it?!

The DaColbert Code did better than Nate Silver on FiveThirtyEight!

darn you beat me to it. I’m personally hoping that Stephen lays the smackdown on Nate Silver on air at some point this week.

I know, isn’t it quite amazing! I didn’t follow the ceremony, but after it was done I went back and watched the DaColbert clip from last week and compared it against the winner’s list, and it was so exciting to discover how accurate it was! if only he had not changed his pick for best actor– I suppose his GUT meant to choose Sean Penn, and we all know the gut is where the truth comes from! :D

I immediately thought about how he went against his gut, too! I wonder if he will address that tonight?!

Haha, that’s awesome. I didn’t watch the Oscars last night, but was definitely wondering if Colbert’s picks were going to be right.

I think that’s hysterical that they’re able to call the winners so accurately like that. Although, I have to agree with Stephen’s pseudo-pick of Mickey Rourke over Sean Penn. The Wrestler was an amazing film (coming from someone who’s other half loves wrestling, which I can’t stand) and I’d like to give out big props to Sean Penn for giving a hearty shout out to Rourke during his acceptance speech.

Just have to mention that I am loving the win for Winslet, although The Reader was far from her best work.

Interesting that my cable channel chose to replay the episode with The DaColbert Code just before I watched the replay of the Oscars. :)
