Check out the new “Better Know an Outtake” feature at ColbertNation.com
ByI want to give a huge, MAJOR shoutout to our buddies over at ColbertNation.com, who have again listened to the fans and brought us some amazing exclusive content.
The new “Better Know an Outtake” page on the ColbertNation.com site features clips that were not used on the show, but are still extremely funny. I’m so glad they dusted off these goodies to share with the Nation, and hope they feature tons more in the future!
My favorite clip of the ones featured so far is Congressman Jason Chaffetz and Stephen Colbert singing “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You)” on Guitar Hero [SERIOUS Fangirl alert on this bad boy], but the other two videos are also classic. Don’t miss Paul McCarney’s advice on what to do about Johns (Jons) in your past. This clip further reinforces the thought from another fan that the entire Paul McCartney interview was like a real life “Space Ghost Coast to Coast” segment. And Stephen’s facial of Chaffetz with Vaxoderm (and some new Prescott Pharmaceutical side effects) is also hysterical.

ohmigoddd. this is so funny to me. i wish stephen would stop being so adorable already, i feel like if he keeps it up i might have to give up watching him for lent or something…fan girl overload.

Haha! I feel the same way…but I’m afraid if I gave up Stephen for Lent that I would be grumpy all the time and take it out on everyone. I would also feel as if I were betraying Stephen;)

I have been having these exact thoughts! I was actually (fearfully) considering giving up Stephen for Lent. But I too thought that he does so much to improve my mood, it would end up being a bad choice. I think I’m going to go with movies instead.

Re: Rock Band Charlene.
Holy smoking hotness, batman!
Looks like they’ve got plans for 7 videos. If you search for “outtakes”, you get 9 videos. They’re all from BKAD, but none of these three, and nothing nearly so good! Are those new?
Oh, and can I just say one more time, holy smoking hotness.

Ok, but that did lead me to a sweet BKAD moment I somehow missed: Stephen sings new words to “Big Rock Candy Mountain” for South Carolina’s Bob Inglis.
Oh, and I think my recaptcha is having a fangirl moment, too: “manned membered”

LOL at the facial, “you don’t need him!” and the Guitar Hero…OMG what a hottie.

Ah thank you so much for embedding these videos, its driving me crazy that the Colbert Report website hates the British :-(
Dunno what I would do without NFZ! probably move to America….

Hello. Thank you for telling us about these videos but I have to express my frustration once more about the fact that ColbertNation.com keeps sending me to the Canadian Comedy Central where those special videos cannot be found. Oh, and what gets me furious is that Comedy Central Canada has a link to ColbertNation.com… for the good that this does to Canadian fans!

These are all awesome! How Chaffetz can keep a straight face when he’s got the mask and the cucumbers on his eyelids and Stephen is hopping around hollering “This stings!” is just beyond me.

WOW. When Stephen stared into the camera and said “You know I’m missing you,” I lost it. This is fangirl gold. Thank you!

OH my GOSH I love all of those! might as well not watch the show tonight cuz it wouldn’t measure up. (on second thought, more show cannot hurt.)
there are definitely some QUITE screencappable moments in the Charlene one. over shoulder look ftw.
also I love the Jon thing! you can’t sit at Jon’s desk. and lassoing broccoli! both of those outtakes were fantastic.

gotta say, in retrospect, self, watching the show tonight was a really really really good idea. to take nothing away from these outtakes but it DID MEASURE UP AND THEN SOME.
that is all.

It’s pretty clear that Stephen has played a lot of Guitar Hero w/ his writers, he’s SO into it. LOVE his commitment.
OT: Anybody see the George Carlin tribute w/ Jon Stewart at the Kennedy Honors on pbs? It was wonderful.

I stayed up for it–quite wonderful. Was that Word done especially for the special? I don’t recall seeing it on the show (bad fangirl if it was there). On the host side Lewis Black was wonderful and I couldn’t help but wonder what Denis Leary was saying to crack Jon up so badly as the credits rolled.

The WORD was on TCR shortly after Carlin died, they rebroadcasted it. I noticed Leary cracking up Jon, they make such a great team. I love Carlin’s “Modern Man” rant shown at the end, genius.

Thank you! I was only able to watch sporadically that June so that explains why it was new to me. I need to delve into the videos portion of the Colbert website and play catch-up.
Recaptcha: Pommes Suet. Umm! French and yummy (not)!

ARRRGGG! I missed it! Tell me they’re either re-airing it or it’s available to watch online somewhere… I can’t BELIEVE I missed it!

So funny–the McCartney one cracked me up especially. There’s something about Paul’s unflappable “yeah, whatever” demeanor that’s very funny as well as the stuff about Jon/John.
There’s never enough of Stephen singing so the Guitar Hero one was a godsend–playing with the mic cord, all the glances. Oh, how he plays with us fangirls! The fistbump mishap and cowbell playing were also great.
I hope they post outtakes regularly. I’ve always wished that they’d tape the q&a sessions, some of them have been really fun.

OMG! That “Right Behind You Charlene” was even better than the original, in my opinion. Something about the buttoned-up-ness of the suit and hair + rock-guy posturing was just beyond hot! Jason Chaffetz really was a good sport! I really hope that facial was like cream cheese, or cold cream or something really innocuous.
The McCartney one was great! I love the sly, just behind the eyes, almost-smile as he’s talking about lassoing broccoli! Ha! And “YOU DON’T NEED HIM!” then “sorry” was priceless, along with Stephen’s reaction… it looks like they had so much fun together. “are you sure you’re not high?” ha!
reCaptcha: cent bedroom – ??? sounds illicit! and cheap!

Paul, I hope this experience has interested you to watching the show. This is definitely the closest thing I’ve ever seen to Space Ghost.

Just a couple of more quick thoughts. First, Stephen is absolutely adorable when he gets all excited that he got 100% on the game.
Also, sometimes when Stephen is trying to be funny, he’s incredibly sexy, and sometimes, like this when it looks like he’s trying to be sexy, he’s amazingly funny.
That man is such a conundrum.

Wow! From the looks of things, they *might* be re-uploading older exclusive outtakes from BKAD interviews, that have sadly been removed from CU because I wasn’t able to find them anymore. Please, oh pretty, pretty please let this be so! They really do love us, don’t they? : )

Have you seen the clips that result from a search of “Better Know outtakes” ? There are quite a few of them… maybe not as many as on the old (crappy) TCR site… they did have a lot of outtakes there.

EVERY TIME I go to colbertnation.com they make me log in and then they give me the “you must confirm your email” screen. How many times must I confirm my email? How many times must I validate my existence to these people? Do they hate Macs? arrrrrgggghhhhhhhh…
does anyone else have trouble with this?
