In case you missed it, here’s some of the more memorable moments from Stephen Colbert’s appearance on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” late Monday night, December 8th. We’ll post video as soon as we find it and/or when it’s available. Until then, enjoy these quips:
- In the Year 2000: The collar gives me an illusion of a neck.
- About the Colbert Nation: They do what I say, but in return, I tell them what to do.
- Why the Colbert Nation loves Stephen Colbert – Reason #247:
Conan – “Do you ever worry that this slavish devotion from your fans could lead to … it could go awry?”
Stephen – “I don’t care. As long as things go well for me, as long as my album’s on top.” - Colbert Christmas extra: Jingle Man, Christmas Boy ….
- Conan/Colbert duet: Jingle Bell Rock
- The Dance Line: Tee hee, Stephen’s kicks are the highest!
- [Editor's Note: I'd like to apologize profusely to my Twitter followers for having to see me get, shall we say, unprofessional.]
So what did you think of the Conan/Colbert Christmas special? And the interview? And the singing and dancing? And “In The Year 2000″?
yay! in was at the taping (ok i shud stop…)…but i shouted the loudest when he mentioned colbertnation…!
but i loved it!!! And yes, Stephen’s kicks were indeed the highest, even higher than the dancers……lol

Ahh, did he actually dance during the commercial break like Conan said?

Haa…he did…but not “surf over the audience” like Conan said…He kept playing fake bass and lip syncing to the songs. Then he started shaking his head and clicking his fingers, much to the audience’s applause…

Hey Dee. Read your taping report over at Colboard. Thanks for sharing. Interesting to hear comparison between atmosphere at TCR v. Conan, but not surprised by differences. What songs did he lip sync to during break? Did they play Holland 1945 for him?

haaa..no they didn’t play Holland 1945…he kept lip syncing to the music that the band was playing actually…no particular songs…! u know how he is….also thr was one moment when he waved at the audience and I was literally waving back…..lol

ZZZOMG MORE HOLIDAY SINGING!! I seriously can’t get enough. And I loved the throw back to Wikipedia pranks and hadn’t realized it had actually been done until I stopped by here. I thought they had aired a touched-up graphic, but how silly of me to doubt that it was actually changed on Conan’s Wikipedia entry. Very nice work!
Exceptionally sharp suit too, I might add.

GAH!
I fear never being able to watch this interview!
This is what I get for living in Mexico…
(and NBC not having such an efficient video library like colbertnation does!)

does this work for you?

right now the show with Colbert is not up yet, but I assume it will be in a few hours (or a day or so, I don’t really know.)
(excuse me for being awake and online in the middle of the night. *sheepish*)

Oh, yes, I looked there, but the only episodes available were those from 2 weeks ago D:
But I was able to find a torrent and download the whole thing!!
I’ll try to get just the clip and upload it somewhere to share with you all! :D

Why didn’t Colbert stay on after the break? Doesn’t the 1st guest usually stay & then just switch chairs? maybe i’m mistaken
Shout Out (Hey!):

He didnt stay because he was there for the show’s second segment…

I didn’t expect Stephen to make an appearance before the formal interview, but suddenly there he was in the 2000 segment! I quickly lunged to press record on my remote. THEN, my channel went blank just as they began looking at the Wikipedia entry. Finally my TV came back to life for the Christmas segment. What a stressful evening!
However, I could tell Conan really gave Stephen time and creative space for his visit. Fabulous!
Stephen singing and kicking it with Rockette wannabees? Priceless! He’s just a hop, skip and jump away from The Music Man now;)

Wait… there was dancing? Leg kicks? Gah. I must see this video.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed Stephen kicking higher than everyone else :)
The whole thing was such a treat.

Poor Stephen, having to read lame late-night-style jokes. I mean, there was some kind of funny premise in there, but then it was just a set-up for a series of silly pop culture one-liners.
Fun interview, though.

Does anyone know where I can watch it? I’m from Germany, so the NBC link doesn’t work for me!

Conan has the cutest logo. :)

He does! In fact, I could easily that face being on the back cover of the Colbert Christmas DVD as it is reminiscent of the Charlie Brown style…at least to me.

Those high kicks were absolutely fabulous. The sheer exuberance and boundless energy of the man is awe inspiring!

If he could bottle that exuberance and sell it, he’d be a very rich man.
Great appearance overall, but I think the high leg kicks were my favorite part!

@DB: LOL your Twitter posts!
reCap: degrade CLASS
Can a certain Twitterer relate? hahaha kidding kidding! You’re always a class act!
Oh, and question re: one of your tweets – what did you major in in college? I’m at that very stage where I’m agonizing over what to major in. Was it, by any chance… English?

I deleted the last one, which was pretty hard core. But the rest I let stay. Hell hath no fury like a Completist blocked from her Colbert.

And my major was History. Specifically American history. Really specifically, post-Civil war “Guilded Age” studies, from 1890-1914. Rise of the middle class and industrial barons and whatnot.
You can imagine how amazingly useful that is. Go ahead. Imagine it. Yeah. On top of that I took 12 hours (about $2000) worth of Spanish, and all I can do is ask where the bathroom is and to tell you that the pen is on the table in the library.
