More info on Ben & Jerry’s Stephen Colbert’s Holiday Sundae Spectacular
ByThis is just a reminder to head over to your local Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop to help Feeding America by eating a mighty tasty confection courtesy of Ben & Jerry’s. Here’s some info we got from our buddy Sean Greenwood from Ben & Jerry’s:
- Yes we’re HUGE fans of the show here at Ben & Jerry’s! (and NFZ fans, I might add as well.) As a matter of fact, we may change all of our flavors to be Colbert sanctioned, like: “AmeriFlown Dream” (As seen on the 3.5.07 show – like AmeriCone with fudge fish for Stephen, Jr.), “Lick Jansen,” (“Oh Lick, your pint flavor tastes like you’ve had hundreds of girlfriends!”), and how about the “No Fudge Zone” while we’re at it???
- The title “Holiday Sundae Spectacular” was written specifically tongue-in-cheek as a grandiose title that only a right-wing nut job would agree too, with the “Holiday” instead of “Christmas” on purpose. Tell your NFZ fans we, at Ben & Jerry’s are definitely “it-getters.” That’s right, we it-get!
- Finally, to clear up the AmeriCone Dream issue. AmeriCone Dream is only available in pints. Not in bulk. So, you can get pints in supermarkets, convenience stores, and at our Scoop Shops that carry pints. Not all Scoop Shops have pints. SO, to do a cool, fun-tie in with TCR at our Scoop Shops nationwide for their “Greatest Gift of All” DVD, we had to do a special sundae NOT including AmeriCone Dream. (P.S. It’s not that we don’t want AmeriCone Dream in bulk. We haven’t been able to secure the rights from the organization that owns the name. That’s the real scoop.)
And, for those who might have missed it the first time, here’s the scoop on the scoop:
Here it is, America! Our biggest, baddest, most holiday-patriotic sundae ever: Stephen Colbert’s Holiday Sundae Spectacular: “It’s a scoop of your favorite B&J’s flavor firmly on the right, with brownie chunks, hot fudge, whipped cream and a liberal amount of nuts!”
At participating Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops we’re celebrating the holiday season with The Greatest Gift of All, a new holiday special DVD from our favorite late-night celeb turned flavor. In conjunction with Comedy Central & The Colbert Report, Ben & Jerry’s is proud to donate 5,000 scoops of ice cream to Feeding America to help in the efforts to feed the hungry.
The Great Sundae Challenge is on! When Stephen’s sundaes reach 5,000 sold, we’ll donate another 5,000 scoops to Feeding America. It’s a holiday miracle! You can track how many sundaes are sold at www.benjerry.com. Hurry in because the offer ends Dec 24th. The Word (on the street) is that you may even catch a sneak-peek preview of the show in Scoop Shops in December.
So get eating, kids! I am definitely going to be hitting my local store here in the near future.

B&J’s had a contest where you could create your own flavor of ice cream. My flavors was titled “The Whole Darn Jar Of Cherries” and is basically Cherry Garcia, take out the chocolate, add more cherries, then add some more cherries. Both black and maraschino. Then more cherries. I love cherries – I even have a huge print of cherries in my living room.

No fudge zone? I love it!!
It could be vanilla ice cream with cherries, blueberries (red, white & blue) then laced with macadamia brittle and swirls of butterscotch

has this actually begun yet? I don’t particularly want to go down to the shop and find out that the promotion won’t start till the next day or something.
not that I wouldn’t get me some yummy ice cream anyway!
(my recaptcha says “Stewart ment” and I say that’s a statement made by Jon.)

What fun! They’re such it-getters. I’ll have to get myself to a Scoop Shop (I’ll have to find one first). And I love the No Fudge Zone! How cute. I, too, happen to love cherries, so some kind of cherry/vanilla would be awesome.

I went to my local scoop shop on Thursday, with no luck. In fact, the clerk said they were never going to have it, not just that they didn’t have it yet. On the other hand, given what he said up there about scoop shops not having Americone Dream, maybe she was confused about what I was asking for. I’m going to have to try another location.

The folks over at Ben & Jerry’s are so much fun, and just thinking of a flavor named “no fudge zone” makes me smile! :-)
I’m going to round up my family and some friends and head on over to a B&J scoop shop so that we can participate in this.
Thanks B&J’s for all you do for charity, for using hormone-free milk in your ice cream, for AmeriCone Dream, etc.

So I went to my local scoop shop to get a Holiday Sundae Spectacular, and they said I was the first one! That made me excited but also kind of sad, we need to get the word out about ordering these sundaes for a good cause! When they entered it into the register it rang up as “Colbert Sundae” and I was a little disappointed that the guy at the register pronounced it “ColberT” But the owner promised me I could have the poster once the promotion is over, so all is forgiven :) So come on Colbert Nation, eat some ice cream!!
