Here’s an interesting item! Amazon.com has added a new listing for ABC’s short-lived 1996 series The Dana Carvey Show. While they aren’t taking pre-orders just yet, they do show that we can expect a DVD to be released on March 3rd. No studio name, pricing, cover art or other details are provided there just yet.

While the program didn’t last long (it had a total of 8 episodes produced, with ABC leaving the final episode unaired during the original broadcast run), it did have a quality list of names among the cast! Besides Saturday Night Live alum Carvey, the regulars included Steve Carell (The Office), Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Elon Gold (Stacked), Robert Smigel (the man behind “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog”), Heather Morgan (1995′s Get Smart series), and others.

I can’t check this from my work computer, but it looks like the shows are also available from Amazon’s Video On Demand.

As long as “Madonny” is on it, I’ll be happy!

I just saw Colbert do an absolutely *stunning* Gregory Peck on one of the minisodes of the Dana Carvey Show. O_O

A dvd set would be good; only now can people see that it was a truly seminal show, both in terms of future stars, and also for its style of humour. Some bits are hysterically funny.

    Good link; thanks.

    And happy Thanksgiving, y’all.

I saw that Gregory Peck segment awhile back and had a moment of fangirl overload since I used to have a crush on Gregory Peck as well. Haha. Gregory Peck isn’t someone that is as easy to impersonate as say one of the Beatles. Way to go Stephen!

      • Although his George Harrison is very good, as well. ;p hee hee

I would love to have this DVD set, if only to watch high quality Waiters Who are Nauseated by Food on my television. And the Wizard of Oz Cutting Room Floor! And The Gentle News!

        !!!

Oh yes. I LOVE the George Harrison bit even more. It’s just that I was impressed that he was able to do a take on Gregory Peck. When I first saw the George Harrison bit, I didn’t even recognize Stephen at first!

I might have to buy this. I just noticed in the credits that Robert Carlock (head writer for 30 Rock) was one of the writers for the Dana Carvey Show. Lots of talent, there.
