“A Colbert Christmas” music is OFFICIALLY available on iTunes

Yay! The EP featuring the songs from “A Colbert Christmas – The Greatest Gift of All” are officially available for purchase at iTunes. All the songs are on my iPhone as of about 15 minutes ago and will be listened to often this holiday season. Taking the visuals and audience reaction away from the songs and just listening to them makes me really appreciate the vocal talent that Stephen has, and that he was able to recruit for his special.

And you know I gotta ask … what did everyone think of “Cold, Cold Christmas”? For those who haven’t gotten the DVD yet, I guarantee you that the visuals add to the overall silliness of the song, but the audio is pretty great, too. Cause, you know, I kinda liked it.

This is a family friendly blog and all, so I won’t say exactly what I think of Cold, Cold Christmas.

Um. Needless to say, I really really like it.

Oh, I’m going to say it! He may have been wishing for a cold, cold Christmas but he certainly melted me!

What a range he has! Those bass notes, mmm. And that falsetto–more mmm.

I can’t wait to see the video!

I think I need to see the visuals for “Cold, Cold Christmas” to get the full effect. But yeah, great song!

I kind of like bizarre country/folk songs anyway, so this is a very enjoyable tune! lots of very creative lyrics: “I’m still snowed in by the blizzard the fell in my brain!”

I can’t wait to check out the video. get going, delivery services!

Oh DB. You just like this song because he’s dressed up as a cowboy and you’re from Texas. I’m serious;)

I adore “Cold, Cold Christmas”. So hilarious, and at the same time weirdly beautiful.

And, as I said on TWoP, I choose to believe this is another song for Charlene, which just makes me love it even more. (I kind of miss the Charlene references on the show.)

ABSOLUTELY. I am so taking it as a song about Charlene. I mean, come on, it’s so bitter and stalkery. :D

      Heart!

I love, “Cold, Cold, Christmas”! I like the way Stephen’s voice does that cracking/country singer thing. I don’t even know how to explain it.

I can’t wait to see the video for it. I bought the DVD before work, and now I have to wait until my break so I can run home and watch part of the DVD.

“(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding” is definitely my favorite on the CD. I’ve listened to this one the most. In the video I like “Another Christmas Song” the most, but with just the music I like this one the best. =)

His delivery of “I’m Serious” on Cold Cold Christmas cracks me up each time I listen to it (which has been a lot). It’s the perfect vehicle for his baritone.

the strangled scream near the beginning of Peace Love and Understanding– what is the context for this in the show? I don’t have the DVD yet, and I can’t remember from Sunday. all I know is that it sounds really bizarre when I’m just listening to the song plain! haha.

If you’re thinking of what I think you’re thinking of, it’s the bear. At that point in the song Stephen had just seen him, or something.

    • Laaaura says:

I hate that scream/growl. It startled me the first few times. lol. And yeah, I’m pretty sure it is supposed to be the bear. Adding his harmony to the song, I guess?

Sigh. I broke down and got iTunes for this. I don’t regret it, but still. My poor arbitrary principles. They’re so easily shattered.

Question: Wasn’t “Please Be Patient” after “Nutmeg?” It’s listed as track 3 in my thingy. Is there a way to change that?

And my love for “Cold’ Cold Christmas” knows no bounds. Seriously.

I listened to “Cold, Cold Christmas” and it sounded pretty sad to me. :( I feel bad for Colbert, but I still want to see the video for it. I hope Colbert doesn’t have a cold, cold christmas!

My favorite songs: Please Be Patient and Another Christmas Song.

Al the songs in the special are so pretty. They have that schmultsey holliday feel to them, but they have great melodies and fantastic lyrics! Kudos to Javerbaum and Schesinger (spl?).

I just watched Cold, Cold Christmas last night. Got the DVD for my birthday. I must have listened to it 10 times before I went to sleep. It’s so gorgeous. He has a wide, yet pretty range. I hope Stephen releases some sort of album someday. Good listening.

The cheesy backgrounds throughout the special are hilarious, and I love the painted guitar XD CCC is my favorite song, I think, but I also love “Peace Love and Understanding” and “Much Worse Things to Believe In.”
