PitchforkMedia features “Another Christmas Song” audio on site
By
ZOMG CHRISTMAS SPECIAL AUDIO! I do not have time for this much news today people! But I had to stop and share this one with all of you:
Premiere: Stephen Colbert: “Another Christmas Song” [Stream]
Yes, it’s a stream from the first song featured in “A Colbert Christmas – The Greatest Gift of All!”. I can’t seem to get the ringtone to work, though. Not only does it seem to be incompatable on my iPhone, but it seems to go to the wrong song.
Anyway, let me know how you enjoy the song!

I know they will be on iTunes (they’re not on the DVD in MP3 form). Not sure if they’re going to be available anywhere else.

OK. I guess that’s what I figured. it hasn’t been particularly well-publicized.

:D so so very very good. W/o the lovely distraction of the visuals, you can really hear Colbert’s musical chops here. Kickin’ arrangement too. Bravo sir!

Oh my god that is AMAZING. And I can totally see the cooler stores out there adding this to their Christmas music queue. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

Rhymes worthy of Cole Porter…who must be twirling in his grave. =p
Seriously though, really good song; funny, bouncy, and very Sammy Davis Jr. somehow. A real swingin’ cat! =D

I love that line “twirling in his grave!”
Oh and – is it? – could it be?
Eleamnor Holmes-Norton?
It sure sounds like her!

I love it, I really do. Oh Stephen. I remember when Surrender to the Spell was the only recording we had and now we get a whole Christmas special album?? It took only a few seconds exposure of the song to get me to pre-order the album.
My only other comment on it? He sounds a bit nasally on it, actually. But he still sounds fabulous.

I noticed he was a bit nasally, too. He taped the special back in September when he was fighting a cold, so I’m thinking he had that cold when he recorded the song. And yet he still sounds amazing! It’s a great song, and so very “Stephen.” I love it.

i typed up the lyrics, i tried to get them as close as i could, tell me if you guys hear the same thing…
Ho! It’s another Christmas song
Whoa! Get ready brother for another Christmas song
They play for a month, Ad infinitum (Latin phrase – meaning continuously
without end)
One day it struck me someone must write ‘em
So! It’s another Christmas song
Santa clause singing on naughty snow
Reindeer ringing in the mistletoe
The manger’s on fire,
The holly’s a-glow
Hear the baby Jesus cryin’ ho ho ho
Hey! It’s another Christmas song
Yay! Another oft’ returning (often returning)
Royalty earning Christmas song
I’ve got plenty more so go buy a modem
Log on to iTunes and pay to download ‘em
Pay! For another Christmas song
Chestnuts glisten on a silent night
Sleigh-bells kissing by candle light
The tree is frozen, the winter’s bright
Who’d have thought the wise men look so white
You! Don’t you wanna sing along?
Too! My humble youl tide
Dreamed up pool side
Christmas song
Make it a part of your holiday cannon
Make it the heart of my retirement plan and
Do! Sing another Christmas song
BEAT IT INTO ‘EM FELLAS!
WATCH MY FEET FLY!
But wait! Who’s this?
Young ones starving on a dead-end street
Taped up tabloids on their frost-bit feet
Hear what they carol as they huddle for heat
(All children)
Please help the “Colbert Children” eat
Whoa! Just another Christmas song
No! This is like no other Christmas-mother-lovin’-song
Public to whom I’m so proud to have pandered
Please save my family and make this a standard
Go! Join the ever-growing throng
Who are singing
And swingin’
While my kids are clinging to the hope
My register’s ching-ching chinging from the cash I’m bringing
From another Christmas song
© Stephen Colbert!

I actually tried to get it as close as I could too, but your version confirms mine! I could not get the last lines from “While my kids” to “I’m bringin’” for the LIFE of me.
Thank you again, so much!

As I mentioned before, I tried typing this up myself. It turned out not too badly. But I couldn’t get the last lines “While my kids” to “I’m bringing” for the LIFE of me.
I swear he was singing “ching-ching-chingin’ from the cash car” something, though…
But anyway, thank youuuuuu very much! :D

I think we should kick this off on Thanksgiving and report back on our progress. We can dedicate our favorite song to our fellow Zoners…and whoever else…such as Stephen!
In fact, Stephen should call on his Colbert Nation to do just this while he is off on Thanksgiving Break!
