Sen. Orrin Hatch’s local paper had some fun covering his charitable roast of Stephen Colbert. From the Salt Lake Tribune:
Hatch shows he’s ‘Mr. Funny’ at D.C. roast

“You and I seem to have a lot in common,” Hatch said, turning to Colbert, “Like our brief runs for president.”
Of course, Hatch, who ran for the White House in 1999, added: “Our races were quite different . . . one was more of a joke, not taken seriously by experts and pundits, garnering little serious attention and ultimately no votes or delegates.”
“The other race,” Hatch said, “was Stephen’s.”

Hatch also took some blistering criticism as well. Incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel noted that, “Orrin is a songwriter, much the way Joe is a plumber.”
And Colbert pulled no punches, saying Hatch has the “commanding presence of drywall.”
Hatch, a 30-plus-year senator, Colbert noted, is now the ranking member of a Senate subcommittee on aging, also known as “Orrin Hatch can’t take a hint.”

I love that Stephen took notes during the roast to tweak his speech at the end of the night. That’s incredibly professional and nerdy at the same time.

Can some one please tape all his appearances on TV this week and post them. I miss being in school where I could skip class to watch, but now that I have a job, I can’t watch all of his appearances, not even the late night one cause I have to go to bed early!!

At least his appearances are early in the day or late at night (rather than in the middle of the day), so you could record them old VCR style like me without taking up too much tape space. However, I think someone out there will be posting all of his appearances this week:)
