Do you think Stephen is nervous about being roasted by such luminaries as D.C. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton and soon-to-be White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel? Not a chance!
Here’s what he told The USA Today:
Stephen Colbert ready to roast for Spina Bifida
. . .
[Kathy Rowings] reports that he says he’s looking forward to “watching other people tell jokes” and is excited about the room itself: It’s the same room where his now infamous performance at the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner took place. “That room has so many warm, fuzzy feelings for me,” he said. So is he nervous about what the roasters — Rahm Emanuel, newly minted Chief of Staff for President Elect Barack Obama, White House press secretary Dana Perino, the above mentioned Holmes Norton and Sen. Orrin Hatch — may have to say? “Of course not! I hope they bring it,” Colbert says. “What’s there to criticize? I’m all about love. They’ll probably just use petty problems, like how I mock what they do.” Since he’s confident this will be a friendly affair, we then had to ask who he’s most looking forward to hearing from. “I’m a big fan of Eleanor Holmes Norton.” Colbert says. “She’s got a very sharp mind. And I can’t imagine that Rahm Emanuel’s going to be very tough. He seems like a real pussy cat, a real pushover.”
. . .
In all seriousness, though, Colbert says he’s just excited to help the Spina Bifida Foundation. “That’s what I’m most looking forward to: Raising some serious cash and awareness for Spina Bifida research, or else I wouldn’t be doing it — I’ve already done the room!”
. . .
These people are torturing me! I am thisclose to caving in and trying for a last minute ticket (and for such a good cause!), but I really, really can’t afford it just now. Sigh. At least this means looking forward to fun stories about Stephen’s roast for the next few days …
In the meantime, if you’re one of the lucky individuals who can afford to give a little something to see this event, head over here for more information.
C’mon, MsI! It’s for a great cause and you could provide us with a first hand account of the evening’s fun.

Neither am I. ;-)
Why can’t that stuff happen where I live? I’m so totally in the wrong state for everything! :-(
Who’s with me?

“What’s there to criticize? I’m all about love.”
That made me giggle… :)
I went to the website and unfortunately, the tickets are sold out. But it’s good because they’re raising a lot of money!

I only skimmed the article at first, and saw Barack Obama was bolded, and was like, “WHAT?”
Still a good roster of roasters, though. I guess. ;)

OH MY GOD! <333333333
I am ecstatic about this for two reasons…
1) I’ve been waiting for a Stephen Roast for quite awhile
2) I have scoliosis, spina bifida’s equally angry cousin!
Thank you Stephen!

I’ll try to give the best account that I can tomorrow. I’ll be attending. (I’m kind of scared, though. I’m going by myself. The Hilton is only a few blocks from my apartment, but I swear, I’m going to be the only person of middle-class status in that audience. Haha. I have no idea what to wear, either. I’m the awkward fangirl who managed to score a ticket because I found out about the roast right around my birthday, so the ‘rents gave it to me as a b-day gift.)

Don’t be nervous, Kellyn. Just wear something nice and act like you belong there. Most importantly, have a great time!

@Kellyn have a great time! Remember you are following in the grand fangirl tradition – pure love and respect for the object of your fandom, what’s not to be proud of? Enjoy and represent!
Looking forward to your report.

I loved this: “…I’d happily be vivisected in front of a group of strangers.”
I hope everyone who’s attending has a wonderful time (and is able to catch some of it on their camera phones so we can watch it!). No pressure or anything. : )

I’m actually nervous for him right now. Hope it goes well… or not. Is a roast supposed to go well? It’ll start pretty soon.
