Like many of you, I saw the laptop that Stephen Colbert was using last night during the “Indecision 2008″ special and became totally enamoured. However, again like many of you, I don’t have the money to get a customized Macbook Air. (And, to be truthfully honest, a plain old Macbook Air is probably stretching it a little for me.)
So I decided to get creative. My husband works in a print shop and is quite good with cleaning things up in Adobe Illustrator. I sent him a link to the official logo, and he cropped out the C and printed it out for me on glossy full-page adhesive paper. I then carefully cut it out and slapped that bad boy on my EeePC Surf. And voila! Blinged laptop!

To customize your own laptop, click on the link below to the Colbert “C” graphic in PDF form. You’ll probably have to resize when you print as this is at the highest resolution available for the graphic. Have fun, and make sure to post links of pics of your new Col-puter!!

Aww DUDE THAT IS SO COOL THANK YOU FOR THE LINK!!!!!!! I REALLY NEED TO GET MY MACBOOK PRO THAT TRIPPED OUT!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!
I had actually gathered some images and I was going try to do this this weekend! I’m printing now! YAY!
(wait, it’s bigger than my laptop itself…is there some way to shrink adobe docs?)
at least my laptop has it’s existing award for the literary excellence (automatically stamped on all my comments…)

You should be able to have the print shop reduce it, or edit it in Photoshop.

OK, thanks for the information! I am not sure I have the wherewithal to go through the trouble…so instead I will put cut out the C and hang it up on my wall. not a horrible compromise for now! :D

Cool, you’ve like approaching Amy Sedaris’ craftyness ! :) Now all I need is a laptop. :(
p.s. SC”s pen in mouth flipping is just how it was during his live short story reading but it was even more vigorous.

Nice…
I don’t know about Stephen’s laptop, but from my seat I could see that Jon’s laptop was on and he was using it… y’know, like a real news anchor…
Seriously, he had a few windows open… keeping track of what was going on :)

Thank you DB. Here is my picture. I’m not rich enough to get self adhesive paper or take it to a printer, but photo paper, scotch tape, and a printer do very good.

Thank you, DB! This will be a fun project for me to do over the weekend. I’m gonna have to resist the urge to put these all over the place, not just on my computer.
Amy Sedaris would be so proud of you!

Grandma doesn’t have a laptop computer.
But she’s got a car! Replacing the Stewart/Colbert 08 sticker with my new window cling!
Thanks!

I’d love to do that to my tower, but I think hubby may protest too much. I’d love to be able to make my own spinning Plexiglas “C” though…like the one that was spinning next to Stephen Tuesday night. That was freakin’ awesome!

The “C” is awesome, yet for Stephen that’s awfully subtle. His new set contains more red, white, and blue than Old Glory herself!
I’ll decorate my server – thanks NFZ!
