My Space to allow user-uploaded Viacom videos

Here’s the current scoop about the MySpace deal with Viacom, courtesy of Forbes:
MySpace’s Plan To Turn Video Into Dollars
Wendy Tanaka 11.02.08, 9:00 PM ETBURLINGAME, CALIF. -In another move aimed at boosting revenues, MySpace said Monday that it has partnered with Viacom’s MTV Networks and content “fingerprinting” company Auditude to deliver ads to copyrighted MTV Networks’ videos that users upload to its site.
Jeff Berman, president of marketing and sales at MySpace, said the partnership is a win-win-win for MySpace, MTV Networks–which owns 150 TV channels, including Comedy Central and Nickelodeon–and Auditude because all three companies will share the ad revenues. “This allows us to monetize the content,” he said.
The companies were shy about sharing specifics, such as how they plan to share the revenue and how much they hope to generate from the new ad-matching system.
This could be interesting. Does this mean that, for example, our good friend ChicaLolita could post her ‘Colbert Report’ Global Edition videos without them getting ripped down (like the most recent one was from Veoh)? Or that fans could post fanvids without worry that they will be deleted? Could a fan post a copy of “The Girl Is Mine” or Stephen dancing to “Sexyback”, both of which have been taken down from the main ‘Colbert Report’ site due to copyright expiration? (Oh, don’t even get me started on that one, seriously.) This could be huge for the fandom if fans are allowed to post things that are not available currently on the main ‘Colbert Report’ site.
We’ll post more details about this arrangement as soon as we hear.

I prefer to use myspace loaded vids if I’m posting them there but Comedy Central ones do work if placed with html. YouTube is a last choice.
me too
