‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ draw record audiences (again)

Wow! The ratings bonanza that is this election season continues, with both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report setting new viewing records last night. From Broadcasting & Cable:

Obama Appearance Gives ‘Daily Show’ Highest Rating Ever
3.6 million viewers tuned in crushing the show’s previous ratings record

An appearance by Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama on last night’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart delivered the highest rating in the program’s history, according to Comedy Central.

The Obama appearance carried over to the 11:30 p.m. slot, with The Colbert Report delivering a show record 2.4 million viewers. Colbert also had his previous record of 2 million viewers (also set Oct. 8) shattered.

those statistics make me imagine 1.2 million people hearing “and here it is, your moment of Zen” and turning off their TVs!

I am glad to have contributed to those great ratings! it’s weird to think weird to think we had so many “guest” viewers, y’know, people who wouldn’t usually be watching…I hope they enjoyed Stephen crying!

I’m smiling imagining all those newbie TCR viewers wondering what the ?&#%* was going on w/ Colbert during the opening laughing segment. It was such a strong show, good for both of them. Monster ratings! YAY.

Actually there are an increasing number of people torrenting both shows here in China. There are even Daily Show with Chinese subtitles showing up on some Chinese equivalent of Youtube sites.
