A cross-section of enthusiastic crafters and comedy fans — bespectacled students, gay couples, and hipster moms pushing their progeny in strollers — gathered on the third floor of Barnes & Noble at the Grove on Thursday night for a Q&A and signing with Amy Sedaris, whose immensely useful (and spit-take hilarious) party-planning tome, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence, is out now in paperback …
… Sedaris fielded questions from the group which took an immediate detour when one lanky-haired fan begged her idol for an on-the-spot haircut. Initial disbelief gave way to giggly encouragement from the crowd and Sedaris brought her up for an impromptu makeover with craft shears that probably bore closer resemblance to a hedge-trimming than anything else.

Speaking of Amy and the Strangers with Candy gang, it was brought to my attention that we’ve been bad little bloggers here and neglected to promote Amy’s new show, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter (I honestly thought we’d blogged it already!). Amy re-teams with old friend and fan favorite Paul Dinello to write the show. Amy and Paul writing, Amy starring and Paul directing? Be still my heart! Looking forward to seeing what this pair can bring us next …
I’m kicking myself for not going to this and going to class instead. I know one Zoner said she was going!

Yeah that was me, and it was amazing! Amy Sedaris called me a bossy taurus and I’m still floating on it – and the picture I scored. She did a demo on pantyhose and beans eye pillow, which I think I might use for birthday presents this weekend. Super swell night! Wish you could have been there ColbertGirl27!

I was there! Just out of curiosity, since you’re on NFZ, were you wearing a WristSTRONG bracelet? ’cause there was a girl who walked by me when I was in line who had one on and that was the first time I’d ever seen anyone wear one in real life other than me. lol

I just saw Amy on Chelsea Lately and she was wearing the same dress she wore at the Barnes and Noble signing. Yay! A celebrity who wears the same thing twice!
