Episode 4132 – R.A.P.S. (Awesome!)

Well, Zoners, I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed every minute of the show. My favorite segment was the Sport Report. I wonder where they found the baseball Jesus figurine. That’s not something you see every day.

Wasn’t the toss with Jon great? It’s too bad there really isn’t a DVD compilation of TDS/TCR tosses. I would definitely buy it.

I have to vote for the Toss-commermorative Toss, just as an acknowledgement of all Tosses, but I loved the Word tonight.

This whole show had a lot more energy than last night’s. Go Stephen!

this one’s a tough one. i loved the Sport Report for pure laughs. jesus playing baseball and stephen making fun of “xiang gi,” otherwise known as Chinese Chess haha, was just too much.

on the other hand i felt The Wørd was particularly relevant (and funny too), especially since the media’s been caught up in election and economy and hasn’t been bringing urgency to stories like this.

in other news, so… last minute guest change, huh?

  3. tiger says:

was that a last minute guest change? I didn’t notice.

I voted for The Word because it was entertaining but also serious. just as TCR should be.

The Bin Laden “phone sex” was hilarious. I had to hold in my laughter so that I could hear what he was saying throughout the whole thing. Very funny.

And the Sport Report was awesome.

And oh how I wish The Toss DVD was real…

I laughed during the Bin laden phone sex thing. Comedy Central really needs to make a DVD of the tosses. I think that is a really good idea.

I think Ms. Tina Brown completely oversold her new website TheDailyBeast.com. Do you really want to listen to anyone who thinks of him/herself as that intelligent, clever, witty and salonistic?

like Stephen? in that case, yes lol jks, but i love how he said what if the person only pretends to know what they are talking about, and still tells you what to think lol and then he looked into the camera XD

I just died laughing when he said that. So true.

Touché (about Stephen). Yet if he were half that insufferable in real life, he’d be Bill O’Reilly. I don’t think SC is trying to be that guy anymore. ;)

I had to give it to the Sport Report this time, only because the Escape from Berkley thing was so hilariously bizarre.

Props to the audience last night too! Talk about enthusiastic. I loved it when Stephen said, “Alright, I think three ‘Awwee’s is enough.”

    • Jenny with a Y says:

My favorite thing about the Berkeley film was “worst idea actually made to kind of work.”

I love it when Stephen responds directly to the audience. Stephen/audience interactions are so fun to watch.

  8. Jennie says:

It was a great audience last night – Mark must have given them a good pep talk.

I’m going with the Word and a special mention for the bin laden phone sex.

On a related note, John Oliver was friggin’ hilarious on TDS last night. I can just imagine him practicing that accent all day, too.

    • Michele says:

He was! I love it when they make Jon laugh like that. I also voted for the Word. That story had gotten a bit buried in the news due to everything else going on, but shouldn’t be. Here are people risking their lives and away from their families and they have other people eavesdropping on their very private conversations and laughing and sharing the “good” ones with each other. Disgusting!

  9. Laura L. says:

You know, I kept joking about how the real reason the NSA insisted on warrantless wiretapping was because of phone sex. Who knew that my prediction was right? (Just like I thought my hatred of Roger Clemens was irrational for years, but it turned out not to be so.) I have ESP!

  10. Colleen says:

I voted for the toss because I love any and all tosses, and a toss appreciation toss is pretty awesome

I liked how they changed the word in the opening sequence to vote :)

And I really did not like the guest for some reason. She kept looking down and didn’t actually look at Stephen and like, had her eyes closed, and I had no idea where she was coming from. Her website just sounded… I dunno, completely stupid.

Random Note: John Oliver just raised his awesome level exponentially

  11. Nukaleu says:

OMG!! The Jesus playing baseball with the children!!!! That looks exactly like the one in the Strangers With Candy movie! It’s sitting on Noblet’s desk, on the left side!! I wonder if its the same one!!! They say in the commentaries that they keep things like that, like Paul has his face from “Hit and Run.” “Looks like an ooold moccasin.” XDD

Great show. The audience was fantastic, I loved when he got on them for all their “Awwws” and they gave one more…I found myself doing that, too. XD

Hard pick. Sport Report and the Wørd were both fantastic. I liked Tina Brown. I think the audience really got Stephen on his game tonight, so he did a good job with her.

So, you think the baseball Jesusu figurine is from the SWC movie? I can’t believe I didn’t notice it when I watched the movie. I have the SWC boxed set of TV episodes but not the movie, so I haven’t watched the movie over and over and over like I’ve done with the individual episodes. I still can’t believe I didn’t notice the figurine though…

I see that I managed to spell Jesus incorrectly and the edit function still isn’t working properly. Sorry Jesus!

        • Nukaleu says:

          Jesusu sounds African.

I’m pretty sure its the same as in the movie. I think Stephen mentions it in the commentary, too.

  12. No vote for me this time. Just a well balanced great show. The asides to the audience were funny! ooOOoo… X3…

The National Museum of American History needs to post something on their site! Where’s Stephen! I’m sure they mention it in some obscure place.
