Spoiler alert: ‘Colbert Report’ purchases “Escape from Berkeley” rights

Hey, gang! I know I’ve been all but MIA on the site lately, but it’s not because I don’t love you any longer. It’s just this pesky work thing, you see … I’m trying to get through it all so I can catch up with everything else (there are a number of “Six Degrees” items in my inbox just waiting to see the light of day).

For now, though, here’s some news on a potential segment in our Colbert Report future. From The Daily Clog (UC Berkeley, internal links omitted):

Earlier today, the Daily Cal’s editor-in-chief Bryan Thomas confirmed through email:

    The Colbert Report has purchased rights to run one of our videos tonight, produced by our very own Tess Townsend.

The video in question is about Escape from Berkeley, a race from Berkeley to Las Vegas sans petroleum. If “The Colbert Report” shows the video tonight, we’ll try to update as soon as we can with the clip.

I don’t know about all of you, but “Stephen Colbert” + “Berkeley” sounds like fun to me!

It’s a video from UC Berkeley promoting alternative fuel sources. What part of that could Stephen possibly mock? ;)
