I was at one of the screenings and Stephen showed us the DVD cover. ALL of them are Peanuts characters: John Legend is Schroeder, Willie Nelson is the kid who never washed and so had a cloud of dust behind him (I forget his name), I’m guessing Feist is Lucy, and, of course, Stephen is Charlie Brown (he has a megaphone with a “C”). Can any Peanuts fans place the other 2? I don’t remember.

Willie Nelson is Pigpen! Remember Stephen giggling when he explained it? :D

I’m not sure Elvis Costello and Toby Keith are meant to be anyone specific.

Feist looks more like Peppermint Patty. BUT she and the other two could just as easily be some nameless characters, since she at least looks a lot like the twins who were dancing like that.
..I’m kind of a Peanuts fan.

This may be old hat to South Park fans, but in the Christmas Special when the kids are on stage dancing to the Philip Glass music, each of them is doing a minimalized version of the one of the Peanuts characters’ dances.

John Legend as Schroeder is a nice touch.

I think ColbertGirl127 is right – this pic is probably an homage to “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.
    I looked in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Brown_Christmas
and the characters in the special were: Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Sally Brown, Schroeder, Shermy, Pigpen, Patty, Violet Gray, Frieda and Snoopy.

I think I was wrong in my other post – based on the hair style, I think Feist is supposed to be Peppermint Patty, not Lucy. And I think Elvis Costello is Shermy, cause they have the same hair style (receding hairline).

If this IS an homage to the special, I can’t see that ALL of them but one is based on a Peanuts character. However, the only remaining “male” character is Snoopy, and I don’t see anything in the photo that makes Toby Keith look like Snoopy. Does anyone remember him ever wearing a cowboy hat? I know he wore a “flyer’s” hat when he fought the Red Baron…

BTW, Stephen told us that it’s not dust that’s behind Willie Nelson… it’s smoke – and you can only guess from what…

    • ColbertGirl27 says:

Thanks for the character parallels. I never assumed that was dust surrounding Willie Nelson;)
