From the University of Rochester’s website:
Named by Time magazine in 2006 as one of the 100 most influential people, Stephen Colbert is a comedy writer, political satirist and actor, and can be seen nightly hosting Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. Colbert is the New York Times best-selling author of I Am America (And So Can You!), and contributed to America (The Book): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy. His most recent accolades include being selected the 2007 Associated Press Celebrity of the Year and having his own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream. Sponsored in part by Campus Activities Board. Register early as tickets are sure to sell out!
This event is only open to the University community (alumni, students, parents, faculty, and guests), but is not open to the general public. Limit 4 tickets per registration form. These performances may contain adult content and may not be appropriate for younger audiences.
$30 UR students/$40 others
Saturday, October 18, 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
If you’re a part of that lucky University community, go here to register for your tickets.
you know that favorite exclamation of frustration from Strangers with Candy??? that is what I am shouting in my head right now.
OH this is just too cruel. I need to go rant somewhere…maybe there is a friendly tree in my backyard who wants a leaf-full.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I’m going to be a freshman of U of R this fall!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I got the postcard with his picture on it I nearly dropped all the other mail in the mulch! And now my friends finally believe I made the best college choice (we also get to see B.J. Novak from The Office). I’ll (hopefully) be getting tickets as soon as registration goes live, so I hope to be able to provide pictures and the like!
/Plz don’t be too jealous…no virtual rock throwing! ;)

I am jealous, but I can be happy for you as long you share your experience afterwards…and share photos if possible:) Congrats on picking the right school:)

that is OK.
I have calmed down. the show was pretty good today, that helps.
Stephen spoke at my university last year while I was still in high school. and that university, if I had not gotten accepted there, then U of R was my close second choice. what a folly. what a folly. boo. hoo.
good luck on your freshman year though! will be exciting times for the both of us! look at me being cordial!
(PS. recaptcha: undergo New York)

Stephen is one of the few celebrities I think I would go fangirl on, so I will take TOOONS of pictures. And probably spend my whole Saturday sneaking around campus trying to meet him. Hey, I grew up in Rochester…who better to give him a tour of the area? ;)
and tiger, I think I already posted this elsewhere, but good luck in college! I’m sure we’ll both have a blast!
(oh dear lord, my recaptcha is not eerily tied into the post like yours, but illegible…I hope I can get this posted…)

Hmmm-I’m from Rochester but have no connections to the University. I wonder what he’ll be doing there, since he’s not a stand-up comedian like Jon is.

I actually go to the U of R and just got back from his show a few hours ago. He puts on an AMAZING show, and contrary to popular belief, he is a great stand up comedian.
