Is there a new DVD in the works for Colbert Report fans? We’ll keep digging for information, but this blog post from TVShowsonDVD.com is all we have for now:

This morning, Comedy Central and Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the release of The Colbert Report – A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All on DVD. This hour-long disc will arrive on November 25th. No other details are available yet, nor cover art, but stay tuned and we’ll update you when we can!

Which reminds me of this website where you can buy a Colbert Christmas Tree entitled the Greatest American Living Hero Christmas Tree (And So Can You!). Be sure to scroll to bottom.

Thanks for the link! I can just see Stephen putting this on his set around Christmastime, maybe with an eagle treetopper…?

“Tree includes:
* Rotating stand (oh yes, this baby spins!)
* 15 LED white star lights (approx. 1 inch in diameter)
* Red, white, and blue (what did you expect?) branches”

NICE!! :)

And I’m looking forward to the DVD. Thanks for the heads-up!

It looks like they are now taking votes for the name. You can vote for McCain “I’m No Bush” (currently 25.8%), Obama “Change is Sexy” (17.5), or Colbert, which (after my vote) showed 56.7%.

Vote early and often!

when you mention Stephen Colbert and Christmas tree, my mind instantly provides for me the SWC scene where Noblet is bashing Jellineck with a Christmas tree!

I am intrigued by the DVD, because I have a hard time believing they could title it as they have without it being new material.

Haha! Yeah, I agree. I want this DVD regardless of what’s on it. Of course, almost everything they put on it will be new to me because I hadn’t started watching TCR yet during the 2006 Christmas season and the show was down for the strike during the 2007 Christmas season.

Could this have something to do with the Strangers with Candy Christmas spectacular that Amy has spoken of? Oooo could you imagine? Maybe Amy and Paul will come on the Report and it will be all Christmas-y… and stuff… I dunno… I got nothing. All I know is: I want! *grabby hands*

Ooo! Looks like it’s got some tidbits of Stephen singing. *flails* The Powers That Be have heard the fans’ call: We can’t get enough of Stephen’s smooth pipes!!!

PS–Still have him singing with John Legend on my DVR. ;p

Of course, considering the other names are of singers, it has to be a CD consisting of Stephen singing…!!!!

Oh man…don’t get me started! I would love to hear JUST him singing all Christmas songs.

I think I have the answer. Here’s what Stephen said recently (at a reading of I Am America): “We hope to do a Christmas special, of “Stephen Colbert and Friends”. The idea being I’m snowbound in a cabin, and musicians come to try to save me.”

So, there you go – seems like this is actually happening! Sounds awesome.

So sorry, Tommy. I didn’t see your comment before I posted mine. Thanks for reminding me that he called the special “Stephen Colbert and Friends” – I had forgotten.

Also I wanted to add, I read that Stephen said Jon Stewart would play an elf in this and Toby Keith would sing a song aimed at the enemies of Christmas!

I wonder if this is the Christmas Special Stephen mentioned in his iTunes Meet the Author interview last October? The premise was that Stephen was snowbound in a cabin and all these famous musicians had to come and rescue him…
