Episode 4100 – Exit Poll

By Jenny with a Y on August 6th, 2008 ·

Hey, everybody, I’m sorry about the long delay tonight but this is my first blog post and I’m still figuring things out. What did you think of the show? Please feel free to share you thoughts with us in the comments section and vote in our online poll. Personally, I loved tonight’s closing. I tend to be a bit OCD at times so I related to it.

Also, don’t forget, we’re trying to come up with a name for these things. Click here to help us decide what to call this new feature.

I have to vote for the OCD closing because I actually have OCD and when he mentioned turning off the stove I actually tried to remember if I’d turned it off. XD

I voted for the apology – but I know exactly what you mean. When he started with the stove I immediately thought of what I have to listen to (the checklist) when I leave the house with my wife.

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t eligible to be John McCain’s Vice President, being foreign-born. Whoops.

OK, just rewatched the segment. In mentioning the pro-tire pressure contingent, SC did not refer to Schwarzenegger as a VP candidate; that was meant for only the first guy Stephen named, FL Gov. Charlie Crist.

It was an honest mistake on my part because the name of Schwarzenegger was “wedged” between Crist’s and Lieberman’s. Sen. Joe Lieberman has not been mentioned as a VP possibility (for obvious reasons) but in my mind he’s always been on the short list for McCain. Therefore, I incorrectly understood Stephen to mean that all three men were VP potentials.

My whoops, not Stephen’s.

This Canton thing is hilarious

Oh man, the Canton thing is still going on! I think it’s great how Stephen is handling it. The more they complain about it, the more Cantons are going to be made fun of.
I wonder how annoyed he is by the Canton controversy. Although it’s very entertaining, making rare apologies DOES take up valuable air time, which could be used making fun of something/one else.
I vote for the Rare Apology segment. Stephen + Guitar = ADORABLE!

According to David Carr’s bio, he lives in Montclair, NJ with his wife and three kids. I wonder if Carr and Stephen are neighbors. Haha.

Much as I enjoyed the OCD ending, The WØRD [Divided We Win] was my fave last night. Bullet had one of the classic lines!

“Folks, what the Republicans need right now is a wedge issue … Now, in the past, Republicans won elections with great wedge issues, like flag burning, gun control and windsurfing. Recently, Democrats have fought back with their own wedge issue: George W. Bush. The man is one giant walking wedge. [The Simplest of Tools]”

“The Simplest of Tools” — hee!

I agree. Seems they’ve definitely been doing more Words lately and I’m *loving* it!

And the Canton apologies just keep getting funnier and funnier. Maybe NOW folks will see it was just a joke on all the Cantons.

Yey for Jenny with a Y’s first Blog post! Wooo whooo!

The Wørd was pretty funny and strong in its relevance. You just know that frivolous wedge issues are going to be what it all comes down to.

“Congressional Republicans and Congressional Democrats. Think about making Corinthian columns a wedge issue. If you get people fired up enough about them, maybe they’ll forget about how much they distrust both of you.”

Haha, the whole Canton thing, I wonder if at some point a town’s going to stop the cycle and praise Stephen for it. If this keeps on, this segment is going to become a interesting ploy for Stephen to profile all the Cantons

Yes, profile all the Cantons’ defining characteristics such as clean air, paved roads, underwear clotheslines and functional road signs! Stephen knows the Cantons need it, wherever Canton it may be.

I just found out that there is a PLANET called Canton on the show Firefly. Although this place is fictional, it would be great to see Stephen poke fun at an entire planet!

Oh that would be hilarious!
