Who’s Not Honoring Stephen Now? The TCA awards *pout*

By DB on July 19th, 2008 ·

Sad Stephen

We waited patiently for the results of the Television Critics Association awards to come out this evening to report good news – but unfortunately, Stephen didn’t win in either category in which he was nominated. Tina Fey won for Individual Performance, and “30 Rock” won for Best Comedy. I mean, it’s a good show but … it’s no Stephen Colbert.

It just makes me sad, that’s all. So I decided I needed some good old-fashioned cheering up. And it’s absolutely impossible to be sad by the end of these videos. These are the video equivalent of comfort foods for the Colbert Nation, I think.

That’s a shame.

But Tina Fey is wonderful and 30 Rock is made of win.

’sides Colbert already wins at life…shiny trophies don’t really do justice to the laughter he and his writer’s have provided us.

But he had better win an Emmy this year….for the lulz…

I agree that shiny trophies don’t do justice to the hours of laughter Stephen and his writers have given us but it still makes me sad that he didn’t win. Stephen deserves to have a room full of awards as well as a lot of things named after him.

Is my memory faulty or do I remember Tina Fey saying that Colbert wasn’t funny? I’m not trying to start nothin’… It’s just what I remember – but my memory could be wrong.

I think she said that in regards to the Daily Show.

She was misquoted about something she said about “The Daily Show”, not about Colbert:

But she wasn’t being hostile. She’s a good gal – promise!

thank you, first of all, for the consolation of these videos; it helps in a bittersweet way, and the Nation never tires of him dancing. my friend and i who have adored Stephen since his days in TDS discussed the possibility of his winning the Emmy, and fear, complete with head-in-the-pillow agony, that he will be beat out by Tina Fey. all comic fodder for Stephen and his writers, no doubt, but for the Nation, our man needs an Emmy, a Tony, an Oscar, a MacArthur Grant (now that would be cool!)…

Really sad but, if this makes Colbert mention Tina again (i faintly remember him saying Tina looked like some guy-author or something) and you know Stephen gonna sprinkle a little truth her way if he does, well… I’m all for that. ;)

Aww, that’s too bad.

Random: has anyone ever noticed the last few seconds of the Prince Charles Scandal video where Stephen kind of levitates? Probably a camera/green screen thing, but it’s always amused me.

As far as I’m concerned, the Television Critics Association is officially On Notice. Grrr…

Come on guys you have to admit 30 Rock is a brilliant show, I’m not at all surprised it won.

It’s a very good show. I’ll give you that. But if Stephen’s nominated, I feel a bit obligated to root for him. :)
