I'm still trying to get over the barbecue pork rinds and marshmallow fluff. The things he'll do for a laugh...

I think this might have been my very first episode that I watched all the way through. Ahh, the memories.

That BKAD segment is one of my favorites!

Thank-you so much for taking the time to put these classic "reruns" up on the blog during the breaks. It really helps those weeks go by.

Lucky attendees!

I love the voice he uses while asking the flight attendant for more nuts...and the way he flirts with the mask... :D

He's so good at the goofy humour, as well as the sharp satire.

Hey, I was there, too! What a coincidence. :D

That was a fun show. Not only did he change Rep. Schakowsky's name from Jan to Jane, he called her "Congressmanlady," which I thought was hilarious. He also ate those spicy pork rinds dipped in Marshmallow Fluff, which was not so great (although very funny).

Hah, I just realized that of the 4 times I've been to TCR, Stephen has eaten something twice. That was the first time, the second time was Bobby's "farewell."

...which brings us to today's reCAPTCHA: crowds eating. Hah.

WordsWithGrace, thanks for sharing. I always enjoy reading about other people's taping experiences. It sounds like a fun night.

I was a new viewer when this episode originally aired. I know this is going to sound silly because it's such a small thing but watching Stephen play around with the Mardi Gras mask did a lot to solidify my love for the show (and for the joy machine that is Stephen). I also thought it was funny when he refused to apologize for mispronouncing Jan's name. Instead he just changed it to Jane.

Great episode choice DB!

I was at this show! It was the one right after Stephen's wonderful appearance at Book Expo America. They actually taped the show in a different order than it appeared on the air. They did Rep. Jan(e)'s first segment, then the Botstein interview, and then Stephen strode offstage with no explanation!

After a few minutes he came back and they showed us the engineered BKAD (which they'd apparently been busy cutting together during the interview, and Stephen must have gone off to review the final cut). They barely kept us waiting despite everything going on. So professional!

Newer fans, don't miss the BKAD because it includes a vintage photo of Stephen from a Northwestern U production of "Pelleas and Mellisande"! When it appeared on the monitor, I instantly thought “Not everyone’s going to know who that is,” so I tried to laugh and clap extra hard. But it actually got a bigger reaction from the audience than I expected. It-getters! :)
