O.K., so this is a parody of a famous painting. I can’t remember who painted it, but I believe it depicts the martyrdom of St.Stephen. Art historians, are you out there?

I only took a couple of art history classes (and they were pretty narrowly focused), so I may be way off base, but it reminds me of a couple different renditions of the Martyrdom of St. Sebastian.

Other suggestions, please?

Did someone call for an art historian?
Ms I-you are correct that there are many versions of the Martyrdom of St. Sebastian,
but the one’s that I think are the closest to the cover, were done by the artist Mantegna and can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Sebastian_(Mantegna).
(for some reason the link won’t highlight the “Mantegna” so make sure you add that.)

COLBERT REPORT SPECIAL REPORT 7/07/08!!!!

Lets go to a Colbert Report special report with Senior Grocery store correspondent Shannon Nugent about the recent outbreak of Doritos bag labels.

Nation, I have an interesting story to report.

As you know there have been recent reports of a vicious outbreak of a strange new disease in the Dorito chip family. Some people in the grocery stores call this Dorito Chip Measels.

Reports began flooding in around April about infected Doritos bags. Strange labels can appear on them suddenly for no apparent reason. And they can been seen in great numbers on grocery store shelves. These labels have messages that include “Peabody Award Winning”. Sometimes with additional messages . This disease spreads quickly. Like a wave.

The disease was originally thought to have been spread from Doritos bags having sex with sick and infected meat . Now it is said to be caused by intimate contact with humans. These humans can spread the disease like wildfire!

While the disease spreads quickly, the number of cases have gone down a lot in the last few months. Small cases are still reported on the internet. Like the recent reports we have gotten about small outbreaks at a Kroger store in Monroe Michigan. Specifically the store on North Dixie. That one just won’t stop!! New cases pop up every 2 – 4 days. Most of these labeled bags either recover from their disease or have given themselves to humans. Nobody really knows what happens. We hope that people buy them so that they don’t infect other Doritos bags.

There is a report today from an employee who said that she had personally seen the fate of one of those bags. A Nacho Cheese has been bought. She really liked that. She has told us that the infection will not spread as fast. Infact, it may die now.

Nobody know what Peabody Award Winning means.

All this work that I have done for Stephen Colbert has finally paid off. Today, I have seen a girl looking at a Spicy Sweet Chili flavor Doritos bag and saying to her mother “this one has a name on it”. Sometimes I customize the labels. Stephen’s name apears on them sometimes. I was there for a second watching her read that. I really wanted her to say something more interesting. Later, I was lucky enough to see somebody buying a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos with one of my labels on it. I am a bagger and a Hero and always pay attention to the Doritos bags at the checkout. I was scanning the registers at just the right time! I just wish I had been a little closer.

But now I know definately that a family has been introduced to Stephen Colbert. The Peabody Award Winning host of the Colbert Report. I’d love to see the reactions people have.

I checked a few local stores in my area today and they all still have the July issue on the stands, but I’m pretty sure regular subscription holders have received theirs already (I saw one up for sale on eBay with the address label at the bottom). So, I’m guessing next week maybe it’ll be out.
