Friday Free-for-all
By
Howdy ho, kiddos! I’m going to take today’s Free-for-all space this week and talk a little about what’s been going on in my life, since I’ve been dying to tell everyone. First of all, I GOTS ME A NEW JOB!!! No more working for Beelzeboss as of June 30th! I cannot tell you how exciting this is for me. I’m a reporting analyst by trade, and have accepted a new position with my husband’s company (reprographics firm). I will be working as an inventory specialist in their Dallas warehouse and then moving to their Corporate offices in 6 months to a year, once I’ve set up the inventory system in the warehouse. I’ll be reporting from the inventory procurement systems for all of the warehouses all over the nation and helping to form the inventory systems for all of the regional warehouses. And my boss is wonderful, and life is amazingly good, I can’t even begin to tell all of you. Yay for new jobs!!!
I start my new position on August 4th, which gives me time to prepare for my move. My life partner du jour and I will be moving one block up and one block over into a loft complex so cool I’ve affectionately nicknamed it Loftgasm, so I’ll be spending lots of time this month cleaning and packing.
Luckily, this work sabbatical means I also have tons of time to blog, so as a buddy of mine said, “So your blog’s going to become a book now, is that it?” Not quite, but probably close. :)
And I’ve also got some really great site news. Next week on the site is Interview Week here at No Fact Zone. I did the first interview this afternoon via phone, with animator and overall cool guy J.J. Sedelmaier. I’m working on the questions for the next two interviews to send out tomorrow morning – Rob Kutner (‘Daily Show’ writer and author of ‘Apocalypse How’) and Dave Pasquesi (“Stew the Meat Man”, SWC; “God”, I Am America audiobook). If you’ve got any questions you’d like to ask Rob or Dave, put them into the comments here and I’ll see if I can slip them into the interview.

On the Internet, no one knows you’re a puppy. An adorable, cuddly, puppy. “Whose widdle puppy are you? Are you mine? Yes you are, yes you are, you pwecious…”
Take it down, Jimmy!! Take it DOWN!

To Dave: Does he enjoy working with Mitch (Rouse) on “Factory” and how long would he like to do the show?

Thanks for the link! I thought this was just a pic. I didn’t know there was actual footage of Stephen with the puppy. Too cute!
In honor of the 4th of July and Stephen, I posted his singing of the National Anthem with John Legend and Steve Carell on Facebook. Just thought I would share.

Congrats on the new job! I just started one about a month ago. I’m working in a grocery store. I need to ask you heros something for tomorrow. Today is the 4th of July. Since this is July 4th now, I want to put some labels on Doritos bags there. Only a few though so there is no trouble. It would have been better for me to do it today since it would obviously be busy with everyone getting party supplies. I did not think about that until I was already at the store. I’m trying to think of some things that I can write on the Peabody Award Winning labels. Do you have any suggestions?
Maybe some quotes if you could think of them.

Congratulations on the new job, DB.
There’s almost nothing better than a job you really enjoy going to (especially if you couldn’t stand the previous one).
Happy 4th of July!

I’m so happy for you, DB. Congratulations on the new job! I can totally sympathize with you at being at a sucky job but very glad to hear you’re outta there.
Question for Rob Kutner: What is the process the staff goes through in finding new writers for the show, and scouting for new correspondents?
I’ve heard the competition in obtaining a writing position at the show is extremely fierce and I was just curious as to how they go about weeding out the candidates. What kind of qualities do they look for? And what type of “audition” process do they go through, if any?

Bit of random for the friday free-for-all, but I was just walking past the living room where my cousin was watching Nickelodeon and the commercial for “Gym Teacher” came on, starring Amy Sedaris and directed by Paul Dinello.

Haha. I love “Stephen Colbert’s America: Love It or Shove It.” I wonder if Peter Dancy of Montclair, New Jersey is a real person. I have a feeling there was an inside joke going on there:)

Isn’t one of his sons Peter? It could be an inside joke referencing him.

I just saw this a little while ago, and I got all gleeful; I’d *love* to see this.
Since I wasn’t sure where else to squee … Free-for-all it is! (And somebody, please, give that man a jet ski!)

Hey! Won’t this debate take place at the University of Buffalo—the same place where Stephen Colbert spoke not long ago? Plus, it’s part of the Distinguished Speaker Series–which Stephen was also a part of (yeah…I ended this sentence with a preposition…not so distinguished)!

Damn!!! (And that’s the only semi-polite word I could think to use.)
The Dodd-Feingold-Leahy Amendement just failed (66 – Aye, 32 – Nay). This f@*%ing FISA bill is going to go through with the retroactive telecom immunity provision in place!!
Just had to rant.
Adding: Annnnnd, it’s done; the FISA bill has passed. Hope you all enjoyed your Fourth Amendment rights, kids, ’cause there’s not much left of them now. While I’m ranting, here’s a link (if anyone cares) that includes how the Democrats voted on each of the proposed amendments to the FISA bill and on the bill itself.

Um, holy crap. That’s disturbing on a level I can hardly describe. What’s more is that Obama supported it, and that makes me sad.
