I mentioned in my last post that Colbert Report producer and talent booker Emily Lazar was at the Aspen Ideas Festival talking about “Media and the Campaign” yesterday. Well, what do you know, there’s some video of it up at FORA.tv! There are four parts to this video, but the fourth one is pretty static-laden for me (not sure whether it’s a technical problem overall, or just for me), so I’m only going to embed the first couple of segments; you’ll be able to find the rest from there.
From FORA.tv, here’s Part 1 (with Emily calling Stephen the “barium … of the political colon”):
And here’s Part 2 (with Emily talking about John McCain’s refusal to go on The Colbert Report):
Really interesting stuff; thanks, Emily, Aspen Ideas Festival and FORA!
UPDATED TO ADD: Jean Morra of the Aspen Institute has commented to tell us that FORA.tv is fixing the static on Part 4 of this series; in the meantime, interested persons can watch it here on YouTube (if you haven’t forsworn YouTube lately). In addition, FORA’s Brian Gruber informs us that the full event video (and post-event metadata) will be posted to FORA after the completion of the festival. Thanks for the updates!
Hi MsI,
The fourth part was unfortunately static-laden for me as well. Too bad as I wanted to hear Arianna talk…possibily about Stephen!

What an interesting discussion of the role of media and “newer” media in society and in politics. And I love it how Stephen refers to himself as the barium of the political colon! Ha!

The complete event video will be up on FORA.tv after the end of the festival. FORA is putting up daily highlights provided by Aspen Institute for quick hits, then will provide complete FORA coverage with chapters and the usual rich metadata post-event.
