Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell sing the National Anthem – VIDEO
ByI know how wonderful Stephen sings, but it always amazes me how wonderful Steve Carell sings (even if he is camping it up).
Here are some more links to the event at the iTunes store, courtesy of an amazing fan blog for “The Office” that I highly recommend, OfficeTally.
- Audio podcast
- Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert sing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’
- Anne Hathaway talks about Barbara Feldon
- Steve Carell talks about the Swiss army knife flame thrower
(h/t Amanda, Jenny with a Y, Sadie07, D.J.)
And, just for the fun of it, here’s some more of Stephen singing the National Anthem, behind the cut. He really likes that harmony! (Yes, we’ve done this before, and no, I don’t care.)

That interview between Stephen and Steve is priceless.

Well that is just brilliant! I am waiting on word of their invitation to sing the National Anthem at a MLB event. What lucky team will get them? First time visiting ‘The Zone’ and I am hooked

Welcome Noreen! I’ve been a Zoner since April and, as you suggested, you become addicted pretty quickly.
I was thinking the same thing regarding their need to sing at an MLB game and I don’t think it’s really out of reach!

Storm_03, I just finished watching “Dan in Real LIfe” for the fourth time. “Let My Love Open the Door” gets to me every time.
Thank you for posting the National Anthem videos DB. Watching Stephen sing the National Anthem is always a treat.

Thanks for the link! Yeah, Stephen looked simultaneously worried and amused when he heard the knife was broken.

yeah i love in this clip how he is genuinely interested in what steve is saying about the knife, like he’s listening so intently ;) lol

Oh, and I love how Stephen always sings the “bum, BUM, bump-bump bum bum bum” on “that our flag was still there.” I’m so used to standing in the middle of a bunch of band kids at a school assembly or game when the chorus is singing and hearing that from all sides.

This is a fabulous selection of national anthems; thanks DB.
The way that both Colbert and Carell’s voices seemed to be somehow weaving in and out around the harmonies was really impressive.

yes, this is just really cool! they are both so awesome. I’m sitting here soaking up the awesomeness. this fangirl gig definitely works for me.
earlier I left them a nice comment over at OfficeTally. I didn’t see if it was approved, but I was just thanking them for putting it up, from the perspective of a Colbert fan. I should have know it would eventually end up at our fandom’s best blog!

[...] Although I enjoyed the entire show, the segment with Wynton Marsalis was definitely my favorite because of the HipHopketball clip and Stephen’s “horn” playing. The Marsalis/Colbert performance was all kinds of awesome! It reminded me of how much I love it when Stephen sings the National Anthem. [...]
