‘The Hill’ anticipates Rep. Robert Wexler’s return to ‘The Colbert Report’

Serious it-getter Cong. Wexler makes another return to The Colbert Report this Thursday, and I’m definitely looking forward to his appearance. The Hill weighs in on Rep. Wexler’s return:

Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) can’t get enough of Stephen Colbert.

. . .

Speaking with The Hill, Wexler said he harbors no hard feelings against the comedian, as he knew what he was getting into before he sat down for the interview. On the contrary, he praised shows like Colbert’s and Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show,” calling them “a method of political communication that is very powerful and going to be more powerful.”

Wexler realized he was in trouble shortly after the now-infamous segment aired.

“At the end of my three-minute thing, my daughter was getting hundreds of these text messages from her friends, saying, ‘Your dad’s the coolest guy in the world,’ ” he said.

Is it just me, or is The Hill (and Wexler’s opponent in the upcoming election) sounding just a little too excited about it all? I wouldn’t want to say for certain, but I’m sure Rep. Wexler will do well. And kudos to him and his staff for understanding the simple truth: “This is a comedy show. What separated me from a lot of journalists is that I realized it was a joke.”

    I love that video.
it’s one of my all time favorite segments.
Better Know A District is just funny all the time. But this one is so far the best.

I love it, too, although I don’t know, Stephen’s interviews with Reps. Eleanor Holmes Norton and Lynn Westmoreland give it a run for its money (Rep. Norton because she’s awesome and Rep. Westmoreland because, well, “Don’t kill, don’t lie, don’t steal … I can’t name them all”). But it’s definitely a good one, and I’m eager to see Cong. Wexler’s return. Between him and Neil deGrasse Tyson, I’m looking forward to seeing two fan faves this week – yay!

that is so awesome. I’ve surely watched that 3 or 4 times before but it still made me laugh a little.

also, Colbert is SO good there…never once does he even smile…he just quickly steers toward hilarity!

Wexler was on the Midterm Midtacular, too, right? I vaguely remember he and Elenor Holmes Norton participating.

wexler rocks and i can’t wait for thursday. it’s been awhile since he’s been on the report.

wexler’s BKAD segment is probably my favorite, although lynn westmoreland gives it some very good competition.

“i enjoy the company of prostitutes because…”

I really appreciate folks who know it’s all just for laughs and go with the flow. It’s a shame Nancy Pelosi couldn’t see that, as I suspect there might have been more BKAD segments. What a party pooper.
