Survey says: Stephen Colbert is a top “Public Intellectual”
ByYou may recall that we linked an article from Foreign Policy last month that was either (1) a genuine attempt to correct the omission of Stephen Colbert from the list of the “World’s Top Public Intellectuals” or (2) a shameless example of pandering to the Colbert Nation’s desire to see Stephen atop rankings lists. Either way, the results are in, and the votes have been tallied. From Foreign Policy:

TOP WRITE-IN CANDIDATE
STEPHEN COLBERT
Television host, satirist • United States
Host of the popular late-night fake news show The Colbert Report, Colbert so deftly and hilariously skewers the politically powerful that he has become one of young America’s go-to sources for genuine news and analysis. With deadpan delivery and a disregard for the line between parody and politics, Colbert is the ironic man’s talking head. For added intellectual cachet, he recently penned a bestselling book, I Am America (And So Can You!).
Don’t tell “Stephen”, but I think the public just called him a “brainiac on the nerd patrol”.

well, I can tell who is in that picture, but it’s not the best…
but I like the idea of Stephen being an intellectual, because by some wacky Colbert-style logic, that gives ME intellectual points too. and I love to be elitesg.
