Comedy Central to launch Hungarian channel

From Variety:

Comedy Central heads for Hungary

LONDON — MTV Networks is hoping that funny travels and is launching Comedy Central Hungary.

The new web will make its bow in October this year and is the seventh new localized MTV Networks channel to be launched in the past two years.

The U.K., Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland have all received their own channels in recent months.

. . .

New channel will feature a mix of locally produced and existing programming, with shows such as “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “South Park” dubbed into Hungarian.

There’s no mention of The Colbert Report, which seems odd in light of the whole Hungarian bridge story, but maybe Stephen’s show would be harder to translate. Or something.

Anyway, here’s a trip down memory lane, with a link to Stephen getting his first visit from then-Hungarian Ambassador András Simonyi:

Arguably just as cool (if not cooler!), here’s His Excellency András Simonyi of Hungary on his return visit to The Colbert Report.

C’mon, Comedy Central, don’t you think the people of Hungary deserve a little bit of Stephen in their lives?

UPDATED: According to this article from WorldScreen.com, The Colbert Report (dubbed) WILL be shown on the new Hungarian channel. Yay!

I’m curious to find out what the Hungarian word for “truthiness” will be… :)

I wonder if curiosity about The Report wasn’t sparked by the whole Hungarian Bridge fiasco. Lol.

Every time I see that video clip I think the same thing: That jacket looks really good on him. I don’t think many people could pull it off as well as he did.

Hungary and Poland? and why not us, Slovakia? we are next to them, but definitely we are not interesting country, I think, there are probably 5 people or so who know TDS or TCR but still… it´s not fair.. :(

Was he really playing that guitar? If so, he’s the coolest ambassador out there.

  5. Daydream says:

I was at TCR for the ambassador’s second appearance. He can, indeed, play, and was better-looking in person. Stephen played a little bit of “La Bamba” after the show, but the ambassador was better! The guitar was beautiful.

What surprises me, despite being a variety of clips on a bi-weekly basis, that it will be dubbed, first of all I’m curious to see, who has the honor…

Btw, the bridge could have been named after Palin too in light of the fact that it has a temporary permission and almost led to nowhere
