Annie Wu rocks at the History of Stephen Colbert

By DB on May 22nd, 2008 ·

Annie Wu from TV Squad has put together a fantastic collection of Klassic Kolbert clips for your viewing pleasure, as well as a pre-TCR photo album.

If you enjoy these type of things, and would like to delve deeper in to Colbert’s career, I would also recommend visiting the Colbert University Video Vault.

Here’s one of her recommended vids, one of the best fanvids out there which I haven’t seen in a while, so I’m featuring it here.

EDIT:

Here’s a second cut of the above vid, which includes a lot of the newer stuff such as SexyBack, Rain Dance-off and Singin’ in Korean. Yay!

I love that fanvid SO MUCH! I saved a copy during the Great Purge. Thank you for posting it here, it’s such a feeling of freedom to be public again.

I love this fanvid! Whenever I get into a funk or a bad mood, I watch it. It’s an instant mood-enhancer.

And every time I hear the song on my iPod, I have to dance around, regardless of where I happen to be and who happens to be watching.

I agree — great fanvid or greatest fanvid? It’s so funny that this was posted today. I was just watching it yesterday because I was feeling blue…now there’s 2 versions! Thank you, DB, for making my day that much brighter. : ) Lisa happy…

Oh, question (double post, sorry)-

Does anyone know exactly when the Mr. Goodwrench commercials aired? Because I vaguely remember seeing them on tv. I’m trying to figure out if I’m in the ballpark with how old I was.

I believe it was 2001. The vids were on YouTube for a bit last year, but they were removed…but yeah, I think it was 2001…

Yeah, that’s about right. It’s weird realizing that I thought Stephen was funny before I even knew who he was. I was only 11 or 12 back then. Ha ha.

Thanks, Mira!

I’ve never seen the new one before! I love it! I’ve watched the older version about 100 times now and still love it, but having the new stuff in there is pretty fun!

…Makes me want to have my own version of the Stephen/Paul/Amy Trifecta, haha.

“Don’t feel like dancin’” helped to get me through the writer’s strike, it was like therapy for me.

I was hoping during the strike that they would put together a ‘Colbert Dance Report’….
but it’s never too late.

I have the episode in question, but I swear there’s no dancing in it. Where did the out-takes come from, I wonder?

I haven’t watched that new version before. I like the old one because it teaches me the history.

The old one is still great because it features a few clips not in the new version, like the Moment of Zen Yoga and the Ice Skating dancing.

Has anyone tried playing them both at the same time? (with one muted) That’s a double dose of happiness. :-D
