I’m working on going through the Free-for-all thread and trying to implement some of the ideas on the site, so you may see some hiccups now and again for the rest of the afternoon. Don’t panic – I’m doing this on purpose.
Hopefully we’ll have a few new bells and whistles on the site really soon.

And to make your gravitar look good on this site, make sure it looks good at 65 pixels. My friend Lorelle has a fantastic post on what makes a good gravitar that you might want to read when trying to figure out what image to use.
Now that we’ve got a few users with gravitars, what do you think of the avatars? The idea behind the avatars was to be able to put a face with a name. However, it looks like we’re just going to have a hundred tiny little Stephens all over the comments. Is that a good thing or not? Too busy? Look at some of the comments and vote below.

Ok, apparently something I’ve done today is not playing nice with the servers. So I’m shutting the avatars off for a bit to see if that’s the issue.

Tried like heck to get a Google search on the navbar with no luck. I’m going to continue to look for plugins that might make searching a better experience. I’ve also just added a plugin called Bad Behavior, which should help the site by not allowing spambots to tax the time of the server. We’ll see how it goes. Still fiddling. I love days where all I do is fiddle with the blog. It makes my month.

No one will see anything you register with on the Gravatar site. The only thing that people will see is the pic, so you’ll be fine.

When I first read “gravatar” I assumed that that was the name for Colbert-specific avatars (“gravitas” + “avatar” = “gravatar”.) Imagine my surprise when I clicked the link and discovered that it’s a real word!
