One of the good people over at ETV left us a comment the other day about The Big Picture‘s Mother’s Day special, featuring Stephen Colbert and his mother, which will be broadcast tomorrow. Since I’m not sure how many of you read the comments, I thought it was worth highlighting this portion for all of you (emphasis added):
BTW, Stephen also recorded a special “Mother’s Day” greeting for his mom specifically for “The Big Picture” show, but if you wanted a sneak preview of his hilarious comments, you might be able to check it out on Wed., May 7 on Entertainment Tonight. (check local listings)
Thanks for the tip, Rob, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the full show once you have it posted to your website!
Here’s a little more about the show, from Free Times (Columbia):
That’s My (Famous) Baby
Moms of S.C. Celebrities in ETV Special
BY HEIDI THOMAS. . .
Lorna Colbert
Mom of: Stephen ColbertGossip point: Stephen Colbert was the youngest of 11 children. When the family held a contest to see who the funniest child was, he was nowhere near the top of the list.
Little-known fact: Stephen Colbert built a boat with a friend in Charleston and invited his 87-year-old mother on its maiden voyage last year.
“Aww…” moment: In a taped tribute to his mom, Colbert tells his mother “you were a lot of fun.” He asked his sister to call after the show’s taping to see how it went. (To see Colbert’s tribute to his mother, visit www.myetv.org/mothersday).
. . .
My favorite part of the article: “When Mrs. Colbert and Mrs. Davis [mother of Sex and the City's Kristin Davis] met, Mrs. Colbert said she had never seen Kristin’s show. Mrs. Davis said the show was ‘a little risqué,’ to which Mrs. Colbert replied, ‘So much the better.’”
Yes, she’s definitely Stephen’s mom. ; ) Love her!
(Hee, hee: my reCAPTCHA — “flyer contempt”; I understand it’s a widespread problem in the commercial airline industry.)

AmandaIvy,
Your prayer has been answered. We just posted the Entertainment Tonight clip on YouTube. The title is “Stephen Colbert’s Mother’s Day Gift on Entertainment Tonight.”
Of course, you can see the whole greeting at http://www.myetv.org/mothersday. We’ll also be posting the entire “The Big Picture” episode featuring his mom, Lorna, to our Web site later today (www.myetv.org/thebigpicture).

Thanks again!

Just saw the clip on Entertainment Tonight. So odd to see a clip from such an intelligent show on such a tacky show:)
