ZOMG DANCING IN KOREAN!!!

    BWAH!!!

“He’s Dancin’ in Korean!” (Good call, jentaps!)

    That was magnificent!!

    • jentaps says:

Thanks, Ms I! I haven’t seen it yet. Being in CA, I won’t watch it until tomorrow night. I’m trying to avert my gaze, so I don’t spoil it for myself. But I had to check the first couple of comments. I can’t wait!!!

  4. Kinaesthesia says:

HAHAHAHA I can’t even. Stephen’s dancing cracks me up, and those red pants are… indescribable.

RAAIIINNN! Juan! You did that on purpose.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

  5. I just had a flashback to the Village People.

    I think I need a drink.

But first I need to breathe, I nearly fell off the bed I was laughing so hard.

I’m so confused. But in a good way.

  6. W&M_NU says:

That was worth the wait! And we might get Stephen singing tomorrow, too?

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

  7. somuch2kno says:

The combination of brilliant and silly is practically too heady to handle. That was instantaneously classic! Thank you, Stephen.

Oh, alright, and thank you, too, Rain (there, I said it!).

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

  8. Angie says:

And Stephen was such a tease throughout the whole show… Bringing up Rain twice…

Loved the whole ark of the story.

“Previously on The Colbert Report” …. HAHAHA!!!

And those pants… That man has us wrapped around his pinky (or at least me)

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

      • J bought into it, like, *completely*.

“How did you find out Rain was going to be on? Are you sure? But Stephen said he’s not showing up! What if he doesn’t show up?”

The whole half an hour. He was just on the edge of his seat waiting, sure that Rain had canceled.

Course, now I can’t get my kid into bed because he’s so hyped up. Thanks, Stephen! :)

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

    • Lisa says:

I KNOW! I was so disappointed at the very beginning of the show when Stephen said Rain never showed up. I thought maybe Rain’s people said “Ix-Nay” to the piece for whatever reason, at the very last minute. Very sneaky!

And, oh, the red pants!! The pants alone had me laughing so hard I missed part of the bit. I wonder if the car Stephen was working on was his Hyundai…hehehehee…

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!! I was so worth the wait!

Oddly enough, Rain actually looks a bit like a taller version of someone I dated many moons ago…

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

      • Lisa says:

Oops…just realized that was a camera he was “fixing”, not a car. It was hard to tell through all the laughing…

      • TheLakeEffect says:

You dated Rain before his growth spurt?!?
        Well done.

        • Angie says:

That’s what I read at first too,but it says shorter version of Rain … And I must admit Rain was looking pretty…snazzy?

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

        • TheLakeEffect says:

So like a Mini-Rain… or “Shower”

(Incidentally, check out the Wikipedia article on “Rain Shower”)

And of course Rain was snazzy. That’s his “dueling outfit.”

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

        • Lisa says:

You’re both right. He was a bit shorter, his long hair was all one length, and he was slightly older. Otherwise though, they look almost identical. Even their smiles are the same. It’s a bit weird actually…

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

        • TheLakeEffect says:

One day Rain just might date a girl that looks like a taller version of you, and it will completely blow your mind…

omigod. It was the best thing ever!!! definitely worth the wait.

The entire intro and ending was too much to handle :) especially at RAIN and his hotrod and then Colbert chasing after him.

  13. Addie says:

    Oh. My. God.

That was simply amazing. I love the lack of words on Rain’s part, the superfly pants on Stephen’s part, and the b*tchin’ dance moves on both parts.

  15. Bri says:

The outfit so reminded of the “Yes You Can’t” episode of Strangers with Candy when Noblet wanted to be a rock star and at the end they’re all singing Kansas and he’s wearing a mesh shirt and red leather pants.
This whole thing was supremely awesome and it’ll be something I’ll watch over and over again until someone pulls me away from the screen.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

    • AmandaIvy says:

Me too! I thought it was the “Yes You Can’t” outfit for a split second until it showed a closer shot of him. Both of those outfits are amazing in so many ways.

Hehehe! My favorite episode EVAR! Due in large part to that song and dance sequence. It also doesn’t hurt that “Carry On My Wayward Son” is one of my favorite songs in existence.

*wibble* I miss that show so much. These past few days I’ve been trying to hunt down the DVDs. Alas, I’m a poor college kid, so I’ll have to scrounge up the coffers to purchase them.

Thanks, WWG. I hadn’t seen that video in a long time, and I’d forgotten about the red pants.

Awwee…I almost forgot about this one. Thanks, WWG! I have to say, last night’s pants were slightly funnier only because they were so day-glow red.

  16. AmandaIvy says:

Oh dear Lord, Jesus in Heaven, that had to be the best thing that I’ve ever lain my eyes on.

I was actually getting miffed at the teasing (I prefer being the teaser, not the tease-ee), but it was SO worth the wait! Oh Mr. Colbert, you and your devious nature.

I’m pretty sure I just died.

    (My reCAPTCHA- “continue Pedro” XD)

  17. auds says:

He just gets better and better. I love to watch him dance. And the red pants were great. The whole Rain segment was great — including Rain.

    • AmandaIvy says:

I’ll admit, Rain’s got some mad skills. I’m thinking this segment bumped him up quite a bit in my book.

One of my friends burned me a CD of Korean pop music like a year ago… I wonder if any of the songs on it are Rain’s. I haven’t seen that CD in ages. I’m going to go diving though the embodiment of chaos that is my closet and see if I can find it.

He did the interview a little early, so I knew it would be at the end. Plus Comedy Central said he’d be on. I’ll vote for this one in the next contest next year. So far this year, that is the best music bit he’s done! He looked sexy in that outfit. And the DDR was awesome!!! And that part where he was fixing the camera was HILARIOUS! every time stephen makes me laugh, I’m surprised nobody asks me if I’m ok.

ReCaptcha word is prefect. “Dreamland”. That describes Stephen!

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

    • AmandaIvy says:

Yes! This will be the March Madness winner next year.

Let us hope another TournamentGate doesn’t ensue. I think we’ve all learned our lessons from that though.

      • Jawz says:

The problem is the people at The Colbert Report constantly turn out amazing material. Everytime I say some segment was my favorite, they come up with something even better. I remember back in the day I thought Guitarmagedan (sp?) was the best thing ever. Now I can barely remember it. Better go re-watch it.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

        • AmandaIvy says:

That’s very true. Who knows what they’ll come up with next. All we know for sure is that they consistently up not only everyone else, but themselves.

(I’m still hoping for a shirtless opera-off with Nathan Gunn tomorrow.)

When he stood up and slipped the jacket up over his shoulders out of nowhere… LOL

And I love how Rain vanished into the night, abandoning Stephen to the defeat that shall forever haunt him!

oh man. I hope he does another dance-off next year.

Does that mean we have to make Colbert lose again? hehe

That was both absolutely ridiculous and completely fabulous. I was literally falling sideways off my chair because I was laughing so hard. I think I’m going to have the tune of “He’s Singing in Korean” stuck in my head all day tomorrow.

I can’t wait to see some of the coverage of this from the Rain fansites. It would be a fun side-by-side comparison of Colbert fans dissecting Stephen’s every move, and of Clouds dissecting Rain’s every move.

Haha. I was just thinking of his kids’ reactions when they see their dad like this…if they get to watch this episode:) Leaving it at that since I know we don’t talk about his family at length.

Brilliant piece! I love how fearless Stephen is with his comedy. I wonder what Stephen and Rain discussed between dance moves.

Rain: “Nice to meet you Stephen.”
Stephen: “Don’t mean to rain on your parade, but I’m #1!”

Wish I had seen the clip discussed in an earlier post where Stephen supposedly says goodbye to Rain from the third floor.

  30. adrian says:

I spent the whole episode thinking “WHERE’S RAIN!?”, and then Colbert said goodnight, and I was confuzzled…then Rain showed up! that was amazing. :) What had he said about tight red pants beforeheand? That only Europeans wore them? God, I loved those pants. XD

    That was simply amazing!

As always, TCR gave us something even better than we had imagined. I don’t know how they do it. I like the fact that they let us know Rain was going to be on last night and a few details leaked out but the actual segment still surprised us. It reminds me of the Clinton, Edwards, Obama episode. We knew that Hillary Clinton was going to be on the show and we thought that was the surprise but then they sprung Edwards and Obama on us too.

I also thought it was great that Stephen mentioned Rain two other times during the show. I’m sure the Clouds will appreciate it. I’m almost sad that we won’t be hearing from the Clouds anymore (at least not until next year). I enjoyed going to Rain’s fan sites and reading what they said about Stephen and reading posts they made on NFZ.

I am a Cloud from the Philippines… And yes, One of the Heroes, I can confirm that Rain-fans all over really appreciate this… We’re grateful for the exposure Stephen Colbert has given Rain in the US… And just in time for “Speed Racer”…
Rain’s a good guy… And now I can say that about Stephen too… Ooh, just too bad TCR is not available in my country…
We’ll be seeing each other… Next year’s Time Poll?

rain is really hot, and what an impeccable dresser. i too can see the appeal, but he totally riffs his dance style of Michael Jackson. Stephen’s dancing was quite good, too.

My recaptcha is “manpower you.” How fitting! I want more Stephen dancing – esp the sexy moves.

Not being familiar with Rain, I have to say he’s reminiscent of Michael Jackson – well played.

I don’t normally swoon over what Stephen wears,* but OMG red pants FTW, as the kids would say.

Rain is officially cool. It’s impossible not to like someone who’s so willing to go along with the joke.

And I’m still stiffling giggles over the “Juan! You did that on purpose” at the end.

    Hi everyone,
They both did a great job. Cool and hilarious.

If you want to see Rain’s MVs from which Stephen have been “inspired”:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Wb3sWW-y-s&feature=related
and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcjeTdDtDtY (in this one, Bi Rain dances and then people try to do the same, even borrowing his coat)

I’m a white and canadian (yes, yes) mom and a proud cloud. And like all of us, I now know … Colbert !!!

Try this one. It completely got me as a fan of Rain, 2 years ago (while randomly surfing for asian stuff):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIGnY3Jt-V8

He’s the first asian guy who really acts MANLY on a stage and then can turn “cute” the next second. That’s what made him so popular throughout Asia.

See you all next year ?

Aza Aza fighting Bi and Steph !

Like Jobel I am older, white, a mom and a huge fan of Rain. Found out about him through my daughter who is an anime and kpop fan. Not only is he incredibly talented and hard-working, but he’s a good person and obviously a good sport! His acting in “A Love to Kill” was Oscar quality, IMO. He can do comedy, serious drama, romance or action and is currently filming in Germany as the lead in the Wachowski’s next film.
