Spoiler alert: Photos from the Stephen Colbert-Rain showdown
ByEDIT:
Here’s a link to the post of Rain’s visit to the Colbert Report on Monday, May 5, 2008.
Video and Screencap Pictures of Rain and Stephen Colbert’s Dance-Off on ‘The Colbert Report’

The big showdown between our oh-so-culturally sensitive Stephen Colbert and his nemesis Rain is getting close enough to taste; so much so that I know I’ll be driven to distraction if it doesn’t air on Monday, as rumored. So really, what else could I do but fan those flames a bit higher by teasing you with some photos of Rain in a *very* familiar looking studio?
I’m hiding the photos/links behind the cut; click past the jump at your own peril, spoiler-free wannabes!
Hat tip to TWoP’s Botulism for the link!
(Photos originally posted here)
I don’t know what the Korean says, but I’m already amused based on what I’m seeing.
Editor’s Note: A Tip of the Hat to Veronica for doing a better job than I did. – TLE
I don’t know much Korean (I can understand the ‘Singing in Korean’ vid without looking at the subtitles, but that’s about it), but I wanted to offer a sort-of translation. Please correct me if I’m wrong …
The first part says: “Rain is greeted by Rain” (i.e. the singer and the weather)
In the second row, it says: “Dancing machine, Bi (”Rain” in Korean) pumped for the challenge?”
The small white text reads: “Want to go faster?” to which Rain answers enthusiastically, “No!”

Dance Dance Revolution. It’s a dancing video game. They did a parody of it on Southpark once: http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/154499/

I just noticed, Rain’s hair/sideburns really irk me. I wonder if those pieces of hair ever irritate his skin? They look itchy.
I’m still OMG’ing and WTF’ing.

There’s a creepy, Michael Jackson vibe I’m getting from this Rain kid. I hope he doesn’t take himself and his fans’ worship too seriously (as I’m sure Stephen puts our devotion in perspective). I guess we’ll get a better appreciation of his character on Monday. There’s no better test of this than DDR. ;)
reCAPTCHA: “Crown Stardom” How funny! I think Monday’s contest may just do that.

hhmm, who’s that dude next to Rain in the four bottom pictures of the left column? I wonder if Rain and Stephen have help, or is he just a machine handler type?

lol sorry, I don’t know why I worded it that way, what I had meant was someone pressing the buttoms or operating the ddr machine. but I’d love Rain to be a machine, just to see what all those Clouds would do

He has to let his hair grow because of his next movie, Ninja Assassin, from the Wachowski Brothers as producers. He will play the main character.

That’s as close as I got, fumbling through translators. My knowledge of Korean is limited to things to yell whilst practicing Tae Kwon Do, or things that Korean ex-girlfriends mumble under their breath. I’m trying to find a Korean on my contact list that can tell me, but they’re all busy with (seriously) studying.

I enjoy precipitation as much as the next guy, but I’ve never been much for Korean R&B dance sensations. I am however, going to go watch “I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK” when I get the chance. Yet, I am pretty mixed on Speed Racer.

Actually, the second translation should be: Dance-machine, Rain attempting Pump? [*note: in Korea, DDR is called Pump.]
