We now bring you this Urgent Fangirl Bulletin

By DB on April 21st, 2008 ·

ZOMG BOBBY!

And did he just say “Put a little man in your mouth?” That’s not right.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog.

EDIT:

What a tasty and memorable finish to Bobby. We miss you, Eric Drysdale!!

EDIT II:

This just in from Ann G. (originally posted in the comments):

After the taping was over, Stephen brought Eric back out and told us how he was the one writer who came over to TCR from TDS, and how much that meant to him. Then the two of them hugged, except it was a little awkward because Stephen still had barbecue sauce on his fingers so he was trying to hug Eric without using his hands. I’m really glad they gave “Bobby” and Eric an official send-off.

I came right here the moment I saw him . . .

BOBBY!!! : )

(And, yah, so not right . . .)

Did like the bit about Craig Kilborn, though.

I came here too, as soon as I saw Bobby!

YAY BOBBY!

…also poor Bobby, because I’m afraid Stephen’s going to try to eat him. While funny in a sick sort of way, it would be tragic.

Did anyone else notice that he called himself ColberT, btw, when he said something like “keep it together ColberT” to himself? Or did I just hear him wrong, because I was too distracted by the hilarious Craig Kilborn comment.

…And i know this is OT, but I’ve just decided that I love Fr. James Martin.

oh no, he ate Bobby!

interesting way to “retire” eric drysdale from the show.

Nice that they gave him a “proper” (if a bit disturbing) send-off . . .

@ AmandaIvy:

You heard right — when he talks about himself in the third-person, he usually says “ColberT.”

Wow, I clearly need an intervention . . .

It’s okay, you don’t need an intervention any more than the rest of us do. Its amazing the little bits of information that we all seem to have stored in our heads.

OMG HE ATE BOBBY! I suppose if you’re going to give someone a send-off, that’s the way to do it. RIP Bobby, and fare thee well, Eric.

I heart the picture, DB! Nice choice.

Awwww, that’s sweet. I’m glad they did this retrospective (and ended it in such a hilariously *wrong* way); I’d actually been a little disappointed when Eric didn’t get a proper send-off when we first found out he’d left the show.

I’m going to miss seeing “Bobby” on the show, but I’m sure he’s busy with exciting new things (don’t forget to check out his website, see our blogroll for a link). Best wishes, Eric!

Awwwee…I was so excited when “Bobby” first appeared — I thought he’d come back. : ( But still, he will be missed. Good luck, Eric!

They showed a bit from the taping I attended in November in that montage. They almost showed me for a second.

I’m gonna miss you Bobby

Oh my god! Talk about bad taste! (ouch!)

We’ve just updated Bobby’s bio over at Colbert U to include the news of his surprising demise:

Bye Bobby. You were my favorite Colbert ‘operative’. …*sniffle*…. :o(

It’s nice that they officially said good-bye to him….even if it was a bit macabre.

Could that have been any funnier? No, I do not think so.

hahah, I did catch that line. “salty!”
I just watched the 10:30 airing and I got a little sad at the thought of “Bobby” leaving, but his exit couldn’t have been funnier.

Bye bye Bobby. We’ll miss you. The best way to say goodbye to him. To be eaten by Colbert. If you are planning to see a taping or be on the Report, be careful. He may eat you. I’m a little bit concerned now.

I was at the taping last night! Great show, and what a nice surprise to see Eric Drysdale. The closing was hilarious, I could not stop laughing. And it left me with a strange craving for barbecue.

@ AmandaIvy– I really like Father Martin, too. I was reading his book while I was waiting on line to get into the taping.

@ Ann G. Thanks for the “tidbit” :) about the Eric send off. The bit was hilarious and it was great to see Stephen’s unabashed glee in the segment.

@AmandaIvy and Ann G. : I really like Fr. Martin as well and I’m so glad Stephen brought him back on the program. He has such a dry sense of humor! I loved it when Stephen asked him if he was in his book and Fr. Martin matter-of-factly reassured Stephen that he would be in his next one.

I just bought his book this past weekend!

I loved the “Bobby” send-off! Hilarious stuff. I’m also glad that he brought Eric out after the show. I wish we’d seen that at home!

@Anne,
Thank you for the inside information. It made me happy to read that.

I enjoyed the cannibalism bit way too much. I’m worried about myself now. :-)
