There’s something about the juxtaposition of the naked IAAASCY! cover against its inspiration that made me chortle. We should believe that this is proof that the “little blue book” is the natural evolution intelligent design of ideological thought.
And yes, it did remind me of “Popoganda”.

Everyone is noticing weird things about the I Am America (And So Can You!) cover today. Someone on LJ just brought to my attention that when you look at Colbert’s eyes on the cover it isn’t the light shining that you see it’s the bald eagle heads in both of them

I never noticed the eagles either! When I bought the book and first looked at the cover I turned to my friend Abby and said “There’s something almost freaky about the look in his eyes in this photograph.”
Leave it to Stephen to add little details like that though. In all of his works there are so many little references, obscure hidden meanings and subliminal messages, it’s really not surprising.

If I recall, didn’t Stephen mention that there was (eleven?) eagles on the cover of his book. He might have said it in an interview when he was talking about the fun things to do in the book, he said it was another game, a search and find. Does anyone else remember this?

My husband used to keep a copy of the “Little Red Book” in his back pocket as a teenager. “It was a symbol of solidarity with the revolutionary anti-war movement, the Weathermen and stuff. . . of course I was too young to understand all of the politics.”

I hadn’t seen your recollection from last October. Back then, I’d just started watching the show (literally that week, because it was the week after my 18th birthday), and I’d never been on NFZ at that point.
So, now that I have read it, I’m going to commend you. It was a great write-up! You should have asked for his number when you got your book signed, just to see if he’d hold true to his answer to your question.

I actually wondered if it was a coincidence that I started watching TDS and TCR then or if it was a subconscious “Oh crap, I need to start following politics in some fashion” sort of thing. I suppose it was a bit of both. If I remember correctly I saw Stephen on Good Morning America promoting his book that week too, and I know I found him hilarious and it piqued my curiosity about the show…
Either way, it was a good thing. Our state hasn’t had our primary yet… SIGH. So I haven’t really gotten a chance to vote. I’ve been an Obama supporter since before I started watching the show, so I’m not really sure if I’ve been swayed any. I guess only time will tell.
