Those of you who keep a close eye on the guest list for upcoming shows know that Father James Martin will be on tonight’s Colbert Report. Since I really enjoyed his last appearance with Stephen (September 13, 2007), I thought it would be a good time to revisit that funny, yet respectful and thought-provoking interview:

On Larry King, when Stephen got the question about what he’s reading right now, he mentioned My Life with the Saints and that it was really good. I wonder whether he was reading it because Fr. Martin was coming on the show or wanted to have him on because he liked the book.

I think Stephen was genuinely interested in reading Fr. Martin’s book since he is Catholic and always seems interested in further exploring his faith. The main reason he had Fr. Martin on his show was to discuss the Pope’s visit.
In short, I think he would have read the book regardless.
