Seriously, don’t click on the link unless you want a major spoiler. I’m not even putting it behind a cut in case someone opens it accidentally. WOW!!
Obviously, this is BIG NEWS!!
EDITED TO ADD: Just so y’all know, the comments section is fair game for spoilers, so if you want to stay spoiler-free, don’t read the comments yet, either. You’ve been warned. :)
I was there tonight!! Edwards’ part of the show = win, just so you know.
And he’s not the only other special guest tonight. ;D

OH THE CURIOSITY!!!!
-debates whether or not to click the link-
… Oh, what the hell, I’ll open it….
OOH! That’s exciting! (I don’t want to say anything else, in fear of blurting anything out that would give anything away for those who don’t want to know.)
Thanks for the Spoiler-y Goodness, Ms I!

Er, should I not have said anything? I figured people who didn’t want to know wouldn’t read the comments either.

Nope, you’re cool, Gaia Faye. :)
I just wanted to add the extra warning out of an abundance of caution.
And I’m glad there’s a place to gush and hyperventilate; I’d have gone nuts if I’d had to keep sitting on that info.
How great that you were able to be there! The article *does* mention more than just Edwards, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.
Awesome!! (Even better than the Pope’s speech “Awesome,” you know?)

Haha, I didn’t see that the comments were fair game. I guess I started typing before you added the edit. Now I’m really excited about tonight’s show. Talk about going out with a bang this week!
I have a certain soft-spot for Edwards anyway, being from NC and all. (He was born in SC, but everyone knows his heart lies in NC.) :)
OT: I keep getting the funniest Captcha codes to type in. Lol.

@ Gaia Faye:
I know — there are spoilers all over the web (and for some reason I just can’t resist a spoiler). Yea!

@gaia faye,
I was there tonight too. Yeah, there were definitely a few surprises tonight. Wasn’t tonight great?

Yeah, the spoilers are *everywhere*! Not surprising, really. But I guess I didn’t want to be the one to blow the secret, so I’m glad I just posted a link. What a fun show it sounds like you guys got to see!
AmandaIvy, I’m with you, I’ve got a definite soft spot for Edwards; I was really disappointed when he left the race. (Slightly OT, I heard his wife on NPR the other day, and I’ve gotta say, I’d never vote for someone on the basis of his/her spouse, but hearing her just reminded me of what a fantastic lady she is.)

Because we were stuck in the lobby waiting to be seated for the show from 3:30 pm until they let us in around 7:00 pm, I’d say that most of the audience was very surprised by some of the things that happened this evening. All applause that you hear when these surprises occur in the show, were all spontaneous. It was an amazing show and I’m curious to see how they edit it because they had to redo the whole first segment due to a snafu.

Great, great show. I love how emotional Stephen was at the end and the crowd is out of control.

Wooohooo. Barak, Hillary, and Edwards on the show!! Great way to top it off!!!!!! I love it when Colbert pulls stuff like this. This has to be the greatest week in the History of the Report!!!!!! I wish I had been able to go there. I need to take a trip to see the Report. I do have an idea of how to get there. I’ll have to ask my Dad about that. Maybe when he has a chance to visit, we can make a pilgrimage to NewYork. He lives in New Hampshire and so I think he is much closer than I am in Michigan. Would be an interesting trip if we could do it.
Sorry about this long post.

I’d be emotional too, it was a great accomplishment for the show and for Stephen! I did notice some crafty editing though, during the show, to cut out some of the crazy long applause from the audience.
MsI–
Mrs. Edwards really is a great woman. I got to meet her once, a while back- albeit very briefly- but she’s really a very nice woman.

Arrrggghhh! As someone who lives on the West Coast, that was a long wait to see what the spoiler was on The Colbert Report tonight, but I managed to hold out…and waiting for the surprise made it all the sweeter!
As AmandaIvy and TruthPower suggested, the show has really reached a new level of brilliance this week and I feel that I was seeing history in the making. I can just see the documentary on Stephen Colbert / The Colbert Report decades from now with the following narration: “The show reached new heights the night Colbert managed to draw Clinton, Edwards and Obama onto his program during the crucial Pennsylvania primary and proved that The Colbert Report was not a show to be taken lightly.”
STEPHEN, THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH A POSITIVE FORCE IN AMERICA!
TAKE THAT RAIN!

I know that’s what you meant. Lol. I was agreeing wholeheartedly with you, it just didn’t come out that way. Sleep depravity and after-show high to blame for that. Sorry!
ColberGirl27–
There will most definitely have to be a documentary about the show and Stephen. If there’s not, I will make it myself! I just don’t want it to be like that VH1 ‘Behind The Music’ sort of documentaries that always end bad. It has to end happy! I doubt Stephen would follow the footsteps of the rock stars they chronicle on ‘Behind the Music’… I can’t see him turning to a life of drugs and STDs. Lol. I think his wife would most definitely keep him in line.
