Wasn’t ‘The Colbert Report’ set supposed to feature children’s art?

Stephen showcases children's art for DonorsChoose

If you were asking yourself this question last night (and it sounds like at least some of you were), never fear. KYW Newsradio 1060 (Philadelphia) posted an item sure to allay your fears:

Work of Phila. Schoolchildren Highlighted on Colbert Report

Artwork from four students at Overbrook Elementary School will be featured on the late-night Comedy Central program.

Hope Hendrix says her students are in first, second, and third grades:

“They drew pictures of Hillary Clinton, McCain and Obama, and we talked about them running for the election.”

The program airs at 11:30pm — well past a third-grader’s bedtime:

“They know they’re on the show, and the principal has talked to them and they’re really excited.”

As you no doubt recall, the drawings were sent as a “thank you” from students grateful to Stephen for his fundraising efforts via DonorsChoose.org. If you haven’t yet weighed in on this most important of straw polls, follow the link to do so.

I was wondering about this too — I even paused my DVR to look in the background to see where they were posted. I’m glad to hear they’ll be coming up soon!

Is it just me or didn’t Stephen suggest that the walls were going to be covered witih children’s art…rather than just four drawings? I’m rather dismayed that more artwork won’t be displayed…though I do love the makeshift set.

you know, i was wondering about that too when i got in there. the drawings were nowhere to be found. the only explanation i can think of is that they had to build the set in our theater in such a short time frame and maybe all the bells and whistles haven’t been added yet.
