I’m not normally going to go so heavily on the John Oliver posts (duh, it’s a Stephen Colbert blog), but with John’s “contractually-obligated” comedy special nearing its premiere, the boy’s publicity has been on overdrive. Here’s a bit more on the special from the San Francisco Chronicle:

On his standup special, “Terrifying Times,” [John Oliver] has many observations that befit his regular role as correspondent on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” But the lanky, bespectacled Oliver also happens to be British, which, as he notes early on, means his accent gives anything he says more authority than anything any American could say.
During the hour (premiering 10 p.m. EDT April 20 on Comedy Central), Oliver addresses environmental issues. Wind-farming is a bust as an alternative-energy source, he announces: “It turns out that wind has been horrifically overfarmed.” By 2040, “there will be no wind whatsoever.”

For what it’s worth, the videos really are just John and Andy talking; I don’t think there was anything spoiler-y in them. Even the one that’s called “Special” is more about the fact of John’s doing the special than the content.
I don’t know whether that changes how you feel about watching them now.
