Six Degrees: Clips from John Oliver’s ‘Terrifying Times’ special
ByHere’s something that I know I’ve been looking forward to: the first clips from John Oliver’s upcoming standup special, John Oliver: Terrifying Times, courtesy of Comedy Central’s Indecision 2008 blog.
John Oliver is Terrified

POSTED BY: TheInDeciderWith the economy in the can, John can’t afford himself anymore. So naturally, he’s outsourced his joke writing to a 10-year-old Indonesian boy.
Yay! I hope our readers outside the U.S. can watch these; I feel badly that I still haven’t been able to locate a version of John’s appearance on Conan that will work for you all. To help whet your appetite, I’ve embedded additional clips from John’s upcoming show behind the cut. Thanks for the great show, John; you were wonderful that night!

Sadly, us Canadian folks can’t watch them… unless we use a proxy. Luckily I have one! Thanks for posting! :)

These are great!
It stinks that those of you abroad can’t watch them. Maybe if we put our heads together, we can figure something out. It seems like MelO is onto something.

I’m in France and I can watch all comedy central’s videos it before 6pm and after 1am. I believe there’s a peak of US connection at those hours? Either that or I’m very lucky, I don’t know.
Anyway, thank you for the vids, laughing out loud make the insomnia feel better.

For those not in the US:
Google UltraReach. It’s the first hit. Download the portal and voila! You have a proxy! Just run the proxy before you open your internet window, and then head on over to your favourite non-viewable US-only website. You will get an automatic window that pops up (it looks like Google in chinese?), but you can close that.
Interestingly… NFZ will not work when UltraReach is running. I’m not entirely sure what’s up with that. :/
Anyway, there you guys go! :)

The more I see of John, the more I love him. Fingers crossed they’ll air his special on the Comedy Channel here in Oz!

^ If we’re lucky, the Comedy Channel will air it in a bout a year. We seem to get everything a bit late :(.
The internetz will save us!

There appear to be some other clips on CC.com featuring John and writing partner Andy Zaltzman, in case anybody want to view them.

Kristin,
Thanks, I must have been posting about this when you commented, because I just noticed it in my inbox as I was finishing the post. John and Andy are funnier on “The Bugle” (not surprisingly, as that’s edited and spliced together), but I still got a kick out of seeing them just chat with one another, for some reason. They’re delightful!
