Who’s Honoring Stephen Now? The Peabody Awards!

Congratulations to the team over at The Colbert Report for being honored with a Peabody Award!
I first saw the good news on “Bianculli’s Blog” over at TV Worth Watching:

The University of Georgia just released its list of the 2007 Peabody Award winners for excellence in broadcasting… and what an amazing, discerning, inspiring list it is. These folks sure know excellence when they see it.

Stephen Colbert is a winner for Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, and the list of entertainment TV shows honored by the 67th Annual Peabody Awards list looks like a printout of my personal TiVo Season Pass list of series favorites: 30 Rock. Mad Men. Dexter. Even Project Runway. That’s fierce!

The Peabody Award site has since posted the full list of winners. From the official site:

Let none dare call it “truthiness.” Colbert, in his weeknight Comedy Central send-up of politics and all that is bombastic and self-serving in cable-news bloviasion, has come into his own as one of electronic media’s sharpest satirists.
And just for fun, I thought I’d add in this very old interview that Stephen did with Bradley Whitford; good to know that Stephen has another Peabody to add to his award collection for the fight between his “hardware” and Whitford’s:

I love the changing names under Brad Whitford’s half of the screen.
(Ah, the live debate epsode. I left our marching band’s finals party early to go home and watch that. I defy anyone reading this to out-nerd the preceding sentence.)

Lol. I think you win the nerdiness competition. Though, to be fair, the marching band wasn’t as nerdy in my high school, or at my college for that matter, as it is portrayed usually. In my group of friends, your sentence would be perfectly acceptable, no questions asked.
