ByFrom SIRIUS Backstage:
Stephen Colbert Goes “INDIE” With Pete Dominick Exclusively On SIRIUS
SIRIUS today announced that Comedy Central funnyman Stephen Colbert sat down for a rare radio interview with SIRIUS host Pete Dominick. The interview will air on Pete’s Big Mouth on March 13 at 4:00 pm ET, exclusively on SIRIUS’ new Indie Talk channel 110.
Indie Talk serves as an uncensored forum for non-partisan independent thought and opinion. Indie Talk has no agenda: the channel gives an equal voice to individuals from any affiliation or background, targets the blogger generation, and is a platform for listeners across the country to react to breaking news, issues and buzz.
Pete’s Big Mouth airs Monday-Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm ET on Indie Talk, SIRIUS channel 110. On Pete’s Big Mouth, stand-up comedian Pete Dominick challenges listeners to speak for themselves, engage in debate, and have fun at the same time. Dominick can also be heard on SIRIUS’ Raw Dog Comedy Uncensored.
Stephen Colbert on SIRIUS’ Indie Talk channel:
PETE DOMINICK: The channel is Indie Talk. The idea is politics…without politics…
STEPHEN COLBERT: …I like it, I love it.
PETE DOMINICK: It’s a new channel; it’s a new idea…
STEPHEN COLBERT: …It’s a new hope is what it is. You are the Barack Obama of radio…
Arrrrgh! I don’t subscribe to this! I hope I hope I hope it gets replayed elsewhere at some point … maybe www.petesbigmouth.com can feature it eventually? Pretty please?
EDITED TO ADD: Hey, check it out! Previews! Thanks, “Big Brother”!
And for those of you who don’t have SIRIUS yet, check out the suggested “Free trial” links in the comments to this post (h/t TruthPower and rebnej).

I would totally subscribe to this, but will not be anywhere near my computer tomorrow at 4pm. I wonder if this will be archived somewhere. I know nothing about Sirius, so I don’t know if you can go back and listen to an already-aired show if you’re a subscriber. *sigh* The challenges of staying Colbert-current. He’s everywhere! (Not that I’m complaining.)

Lol @ DB. Poor dear.
I’ve actually been listening to the show (it’s from 2pm- 5pm) and I really like “Pete’s Big Mouth” so far, even if Stephen’s not on yet.
They are already quoting him in promotional commercials for the show. It’s in one of the previews that were posted Stephen said “Is that Pete’s Big Mouth I hear?” I just thought that was funny.

Not sure, gina24. I think certain software allows for recording from streamed audio/video, but I’m clueless beyond that. Good luck, though!

Lol @truthiness89:
me too. It was kind of awkward at the same time.
It’s really weird how he seems a lot younger than he really is. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? He’s only two years younger than my dad… lol. He just seems a lot younger to me. Just his word choice and demeanor, i guess.

I thought Pete was talking about himself a bit too much. The donkey punch thing was like whoa, but I liked that Stephen censored himself too … it made him appear far more charming than he would have otherwise. Some of it was repeats from other interviews, but I suppose that was to be expected. I liked that Allison Silverman can tell when he’s sincere, that’s nice. “The difference between satire and mean,” hehe.

Yeah I loved that Donkey punch thing. Made me laugh. I would have recorded it, but I thought it was going to be longer. I need it in my iTunes too. Dang I should have told my Dad about that!

@Amanda – I know, right? Like, with all these public figures…I *know* I can relate to them better than my parents, and I feel like they talk more like me and my friends than they do like my parents, despite the whole age thing (my mother’s 43; my dad’s 53) – like, I know for an absolute fact my parents would never, ever, EVER think of something as wild as the “donkey punch” thing – and it’s not like I’m from a conservative family or anything, it’s just … not stuff they’d encounter, or talk about – not just around me, around anyone.
It becomes a little awkward when I’m like “dang, I’m in love with him, oh wait, he could be my dad.”
(which is why I prefer fangirling about John Oliver, who is only twelve (rather than twenty-five) years my senior. and who is also not married (!))

For anyone that missed the interview I ripped it from the free trial and uploaded it, just click the link:

Also, sorry but at 8:37 the interview cuts out for just a few seconds, the question starts as follows:
“It’s 3am, the phone rings in Stephen Colbert’s White House”
Anyways…Enjoy!

I second that GBL85. You are a true hero and have made my day. Now to put this into iTunes. That interview was not as long as I had hoped though.
Another thing I just realized relating to Stephen’s presidency, I’m in Michigan and Michigan will probably have to revote. I had decided not to vote for Stephen and to make my vote really count. But now that I may have another chance to do this, I’ll put in Stephen’s name if I can.

You folks with parents in your forties make me feel old! (Mine are 56 and–well, almost–57, for the record.) Also, I’m a mere four years younger than John Oliver. I feel old compared to some of you (even though I’m not)!
My mom’s a lot like Stephen in the younger-than-their-years aspect. She gets pop culture references and whatnot, though I don’t think she’d ever admit to me–if she even knew!–what a donkey punch was (and I’m not about to explain it to her). Heh.
I’ve taken pilates before. It really helps your abs–hence Stephen’s figure. I’ve gotta start up on that again.

Okay, Laura, you need to stop talking about how you feel old because you’re a “mere four years younger than John Oliver.” : ) Not everyone here has parents in their 40s. Some of us are older than the majority of the on-air talent of the Daily Show (I know Jon is older than me . . . ). Stephen is much closer in age to me than to my parents — I’m younger than he is, but not by much.
