Hallelujah! ‘The Colbert Report’ gets a website revamp!
ByAt last! The moment we’ve all been waiting for: Comedy Central has given The Colbert Report’s website a shiny and new makeover!
Just what we all needed: MORE Stephen Colbert! My productivity is now measurable using only negative numbers, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do …
EDITED TO ADD: Some of our Canadian commenters have noted that the official Comedy Central site won’t work for them, for which I can only offer a heartfelt, “I’m sorry.” If anyone figures out a way around this hurdle and/or if the Comedy Network creates a comparable Colbert Report site of its own, please let us know (the contact info is here), and we’ll spread the word.
EDIT II:
I read on the Colboards about a site that allows you to install a software that helps you to bypass the country firewall. Does anyone know what site I’m talking about, and is this something that actually works?

Good God, now we have FOUR nipples in the top fold of our site. That disturbs me on multiple levels.
And hey! He’s not backwards anymore! YAY!

Bwah!! I’m glad all my contract employees left before I read that comment; it’s the only thing that spared me the indignity of shrieking with laughter in front of all of them …

Site looks great. But here’s hoping they give it the full Daily Show website treatment and put up clips from all of the past episodes.

@MsI:
I don’t know why, but that shot was just so disturbing to me. In a good way, the same way that High Princess Thea is disturbing to me. But disturbing nonetheless. Unsettling comedy is gold, I always say. But … yeah.
Four nipples. That’s just too d*mn many nipples, I gotta be quite honest with you.

@ Page,
I do believe that’s the ultimate plan, although the new version of the site is obviously still in beta mode at present. Articles like this one from last Fall certainly suggest that a fully archived site for TCR was under consideration at that time, though.
@ DB,
Amen, sister.

Thank God! The old site’s poor functionality was giving me a rash.

Now I’m really not going to get anything done. I spend too much time online as it is. :-)

Looks very nice and all, but on behalf of all Colbertnation’s Canandian chapter, having the content being blocked sucks. Same thing for TDS.com

In hopes of the archives…
not sure if the site was supposed to be noticed yet, as when it was mentioned on the Colboards, they immediately took it down, but I think that was just to flip Stephen.
Also, I’m hoping they put some tags on the clips and maybe make tds clips accessible via the tcr site and vice verse

Wow! It’s beautiful and worthy — kudos to the redesign team! I love the “Crucial Colbert” box, and that they’re calling out Stephen’s opening line of each show (a bit like NFZ’s widget?). And the Moments of Truth are well chosen — I love that they’ve got their “Music Man” fanvid up there, hee.
Plus it’s easy to see how to order tickets, and it’s interesting that they have a way for people to visit the Colboards w/o going through ColbertNation … Plus the swoony red/blue background! If I ever missed a show, this would be a pleasure to visit — all-around a 1000% improvement!
It’s giving me a little flag as its icon, hee.

@ Fifi,
I’m sure they don’t mind its being noticed; typing in the address for the old version of the official Comedy Central site automatically forwards you to the new version.

Beauuutiful! Finally, a decent site that won’t crash my computer anymore! And I sincerely hope ALL the old clips are eventually uploaded. I’ve noticed the TDS website is missing some material. No way were there only 19 Even Stephvens done over the years.

I’m glad to read about the new look for TCR web site. Unfortunately, I live in Canada… so I cannot enjoy the goodies. Yes, I am very very very bitter.

Is anyone else having stalling/buffering issues on the site? I have broadband dsl but the vids hang and buffer every 10 seconds! Plus after playing two it jams and plays two at once and I have to reload.

@vigwig
I am having a lot of issues with the site. I had the buffering issues earlier today. Now I get nothing but the advertisements. An advertisement will play, the site will skip my selected video, the same advertisement will play, the next video will be skipped, etc.
I remember that TDS Web site had a lot of these issues at first too. I still sometimes have problems with TDS but not nearly as often as I used to.
I hope they put a video search function on the new TCR Web site.

Yeah, I have have broadband too, and the same probs with the buffering. Haven’t been able to watch a video straight through on the TCR site OR the TDS site yet. It’s a bit annoying, really… :-(

at work i cant watch most of the videos because they buffer for a minute and then it goes to the replay or see more vids thing, for both the TCR and TDS. (We have DSL at work) at home where I have access to cable internet it works much better but i still have some buffering issues (and I can load an entire 5-7 minute youtube video in about 45 seconds) so there are definitely issues with the comedy central video player.

Whew, thanks all for the feedback on the site issues, I’m relieved it’s not my pc but them.
I’ve got a T-1 line at work and they play fine there. They can’t expect everyone to have that speed at home can they?
