All You Need to Know: 2/24/08 Edition
By
Happy Academy Awards night to you! It’s been a long, quiet week – I’m just catching up on most of the news myself – but Jon Stewart has been busy on the west coast with his writers preparing for tonight. Man, that feels good to type, even after almost two weeks. (On the pre-Oscar show, Regis Philbin said Jon looked “cool as a cucumber.” And he’s off to a great start as I post this.) Stephen’s had a well-deserved week off and we hope he’s enjoying it, though it would be nice to have some news… but new shows start on Tuesday. Looking forward to it!
‘Colbert Report’ Episode News:
- It’s a dark week and a slow one, so enjoy a video clip of last week’s highlights.
Writers’ Strike 2008 – We Made It To The Oscars:
- The New York Times looks back at the writerless late night talk shows.
And Here’s Your Oscar Host, Jon Stewart:
- Jon talks to Larry King on Wednesday’s Larry King Live.
- Jon spends some quality time with his writers in the busy week before the big show.
- Jon’s going for broke with a week to prepare. To be brutally honest? I’ll be watching the Oscars for you, Jon.
“Bobby” Finds His Own Path:
- We at NFZ will miss Eric Drysdale on the Report! Here’s a classic clip of Eric on The Daily Show.
- Check out Eric’s website-turned-blog to keep up with his new projects.
Mainstream Media:
- Barnes and Noble is selling a new shopping bag with Mr. Colbert’s likeness on it. We want one!
- Greg Mitchell includes Stephen in his new book, “So Wrong for So Long: How the The Press, the Pundits — and the President — Failed on Iraq.”
Silliness and Joyful Things:
- Stephen’s got a New Feline Friend.
- Klassic Kolbert: A few (okay, a lot) of Stephen’s classic correspondent pieces on The Daily Show. From the Gates piece (yeah, you remember that one!): “Hold on, Jon, that’s a five-stroker.”
- You can’t go wrong with a cheery, catchy fan video. Ready for a smile?
- He’s singin in Koreeeeeeaaann! Listen to Stephen sing it better than we ever could. You know the music video. Drop the needle, Jimmy!
Six Degrees of Stephen Colbert:
- Tivo Alert: Amy Sedaris visits (again) the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday.
- John Oliver tapes his Comedy Central special on Wednesday in New York City. Can’t wait to see it air in April!
- Paul Dinello’s ‘Be Kind, Rewind’ opens on Friday. Check it out!
NoFactZone News:
- WonkyEar.com is down – is it actually gone?
- Dr. Colbert, we beg of you: give us some news! You see how thin this poor weekly roundup is?
