Best wishes to departing writer Eric Drysdale (we’ll miss you)

By Ms Interpreted on February 18th, 2008 ·

Not surprisingly, readers here and elsewhere on “the internets” have expressed sadness at the news that “Bobby” (Eric Drysdale) has left his job as a writer for The Colbert Report. Eric thanks you for your well-wishes and has asked interested people to keep up with his latest endeavors via his website, www.edrysdale.com.

Best of luck to you, Eric!

To commemorate Eric’s departure, I thought it fitting to include this segment from his days as a Daily Show correspondent:

I’d also like to commend him on sticking it out with that rowdy Daily Show crew for as long as he did; treatment like this from Steve Carell would probably be enough to make anyone quit his job! ;)

God speed Eric Drysdale (according to Eddie Izzard, that’s REALLY fast) and good luck.

Awww, he calls them “TDS” and “TCR” on his website. Can’t wait to see what’s up next.

Is there any chance of some kind of final send-off for “Bobby”? He was one of my favorite recurring parts of the show.

Happy trails and good luck to you, Eric. We’ll miss you…

@Till: I know, right? I figured something suspicious was up when he wasn’t among the writers who Stephen called onto his set during the return episode, but he’s practically been a recurring character; he could at least be acknowledged in some way.

Good luck, Mr. Drysdale….we’ll miss you, Bobby.

The Colbert Report will be a little bit poorer without you.

I think I may have figured out what the next “interesting project brewing” for Eric will be: his own show on Comedy Central, called “Bobby The Stage Manager” (“BTSM” for short). A spin-off of “The Colbert Report” just as that show was spun off of “The Daily Show.” It will air at 12:00 a.m. and nobody will be able to get up for work or school ever again.
Good luck, Eric.
He will be missed.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t know that Eric had been a TDC correspondent

@pellenaka
I didn’t know that he had been a TDS correspondent either. From what I saw on his web site, it looks like he only did the one story. I searched for him on TDS web site and didn’t find anything other than the clip provided by MS Interpreted.

@ pellenaka and One of the Heroes,

There’s also this Daily Show clip that features Eric. That one, plus the two I’ve linked above, are the only ones I’m aware of.

There’s also a TDS clip of Eric playing guitar and singing. Unfortunately I can’t remember what the context was.

I really hope they have some sort of mention about “Bobby’s” departure.

@Till – it was about the California Recall elections and an alphabet system they had set up.

Here you go!

I really wish the TDS website had better tags on some things… for example, how Eric is in this but he isn’t tagged.
