*taps the gavel*
I now bring this unofficial meeting of the No Fact Zone readers to order. We’ve got a few items of business to discuss, but if this kind of thing bores you to tears, feel free to skip to the end where there’s a pretty picture.
WANTED: VIDEO RESEARCHER FOR COLBERT UNIVERSITY
EDIT: We have had a very generous response from our readers. So we are good for now with this request. Thank you for all of your quick offers.
Do you like to watch old videos from ‘The Daily Show’? Do you have nothing better to do than peruse videos for hours? Do you need a hobby during this show break? Have you always wanted to contribute to the NFZ family of sites but didn’t know where to start?
Then we need YOU! Here’s the lowdown, from Colbert University guru WordsWithGrace:
- Now that all of Stephen’s segments on The Daily Show have been moved to TheDailyShow.com, most of the links in CU’s Klassic Kolbert course don’t work. because they were links to the clips in Comedy Central’s old Media Player database, which doesn’t exist anymore. (Hover over the link to see the URL it goes to … if it begins “www.comedycentral.com,” that link is no longer good.)
Most or all of these clips are at TheDailyShow.com now, but someone (or several someones) needs to go through all our links and find the TheDailyShow.com link for each one. I would love to recruit a few volunteers who would enjoy looking at Daily Show clips. People could just take a small part; someone might want to just help with the “This Week in God” section, or the “Even Stevphen” section, for instance. Any help would be appreciated.
If you are interested, shoot me an e-mail – I hope to hear from you soon!
NEW SITE FEATURES
First, I’d like to give a huge and massive Thank You to thatguyagain, who came out of the woodwork to design us a most excellent new header and logo. The NFZ minions know that I am beyond anal about details about the site, and thatguyagain did over a dozen revisions of the logo before he came up with one I was happy with. So again, thank you, and I do sincerely owe you a cookie or something.
Secondly, Kina made that lovely graphic in our site bar announcing the strike to be over. Yay, Kina and her mad Photoshop skillz, yo! (The pic is from an old Daily Show sketch featuring Stephen in the cutest sailor outfit ever.)
In addition to our new site graphics, we’ve also added a “Featured Videos” section to the sidebar. This is just a spot for us to put videos that tickle our fancy at the moment. We’ll try to switch them up every few days, just to keep things interesting.
COLBERT PLATINUM: FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH AN iPHONE
If you’ve got way too much disposable income and the subsequent iPhone that accompanies it (or you run a very popular web site and need 24/7 access to the web to manage it), you can bookmark No Fact Zone to show on the home screen of your iPhone. And we’ve added a handy dandy new custom Web Clip icon that works automatically when you add a bookmark of our site to the home screen. To add a bookmark of No Fact Zone to your iPhone home page:
- Open your Safari browser
- Go to http://www.nofactzone.net
- Click on the + icon at the bottom of your screen
- Click on the “Add to Home Screen” button
And voila! Now you can get your No Fact Zone fix wherever you go! I know in Dallas, the site comes up pretty quickly on the Edge network. We’re also going through a few other technical mods to make sure that No Fact Zone continues to be iPhone friendly.
Okay, I think that’s all we need to discuss for today. Thanks for putting up with the business end of the site. And, as I promised, here’s a picture to look at.

Re the links updates, I’ve already taken care of “This week in God” so you can cross that one off the to do list.

I love the new pretty features on the site — way to go, everyone! I’ve offered to update the “Even Stephven” links as soon as my schedule would allow (which will be from now on, at least for awhile, while I job hunt). And I’ll definitely take on more if more help is needed. : )

Aw, the icon looks awesome on my home screen! Thanks bunches! And the site redesign looks great as well, both on my iPhone and on the big screen. Love the new logo.

Is it just me, or does anyone else want to stick a sharp object in their eye because thedailyshow.com’s search engine is giving them grief? Grrrr…

The site looks beautiful thank you so much.

@Lisa. Dude, I completely know what you’re talking about. Whoever designed that site had good intentions but certainly wasn’t a bug-squasher.

I love the new header and logo as well.
@DB It looks like I was too slow to volunteer my help. I have had Internet connection issues on and off the last couple of days so I just now read this post. If you find later on that you still need some more help with this, please let me know. I would be happy to go hunt down the video links for NFZ.

@everyone:
Thanks to the generous NFZ family for all the offers of help! Thanks to Vigwig, Lisa, and Shruti, our Klassic Kolbert page should be fully updated soon. ‘One of the Heroes’, we’ll keep you in mind for the future!

Yeah let me know where/how I can help too. I’d love to put in some time on this.

@mrtigger001 (and anyone else who was having problems),
I think the Comedy Central Webmaster gods might have heard my grumbling from afar — I think things are back to normal.

That flag in the new header looks expansive enough to envelop at least two people–rolled up, say, in front of a crackling digital fire. If we get real cozy I bet it’d fit the entire Colbert Nation.
I like it very much.

Oh, gosh. I’m thrilled and deeply saddened at the same time.
On the bright side, there’s a pretty little “No Fact Zone” icon on my iPod touch. On the dark side, I’m too slow to help out with the archiving at CU. Oh, well. If anyone still needs help, I’m willing! :)
