Klassic Kolbert: “The Daily Show” clip, pre-Jon
BySenior International Correspondent Jennie found this amusing video from a very, VERY old episode of “The Daily Show”. The video quality is low, but the entertainment value is rather high. Not unlike the builder of the Toad Tunnel.

This is also on ADS site as a re-play during Jon’s earlier years, like a lot of other of Stephen’s earlier work. One that I would have liked to see was the piece Stephen did on the bears petting park or whatever that was next to an interstate.

Ten years ago. I see what they mean about the tone of the show being different then.
Straw bale construction, done properly, is actually very safe and energy efficient.

There were a lot more dark, kind of weird moments… especially in Stephen’s pieces back then.

Loved it! He had that eyebrow move even back then.
Like fifi, I have searched at length for the bear segment. Before the strike, I tried to find it on ADS web site but I think it predates Jon and isn’t up there. I’ve heard Stephen talk about it before but I have never seen it.

His hair! Stephen Colbert at The Daily Show does Kent Clark at the Daily Planet. If there were a phone booth he could have gone in and come out as Superman!
