Another photo of Colbert’s portrait in the National Portrait Gallery

Now this is the photo I wanted to take the other day! (My poor little camera was not up to it.) The Smithsonian Around the Mall blog has a great high-resolution photo that shows just how close Stephen is to George Washington’s portrait.

Stephen Scores! (Well, Sorta)
by Beth Py-Lieberman

Snarkmeister Stephen Colbert’s portrait is now on view at the National Portrait Gallery. Find it on the second floor—kinda, sorta nigh on to George Washington.

Actually, closer to the restrooms. (See it there until March 2).

Asked to comment, the museum’s director Marc Pachter acquiesced: “This is the perfect opportunity to engage more people in the conversation about who belongs in the National Portrait Gallery.”

That is an amazing picture. I tried to take one like that when I was at the NPG but it didn’t come out well at all.

I love the You Tube video!

Anyone read the comments to that vid? :

    AMVrepository

I heard that on the back of Colberts portrait there is an encoded message written in egyptian hieroglyphs!!

    livardo

And once decoded, what does the message say?

    Eat Doritos!

    Genius…

Great video! Thanks for posting it. Alas, I’m in CA, and probably won’t make it to the NPG any time soon. :-(

This is a great video too… The language spoken is portuguese, and the guy is telling about the queue to see Washington’s portrait and the one for Colbert. Worth watching it! It was really crowded there!
